LU-Belleville 34 - 31 Concordia

On Saturday, Lindenwood University-Belleville defeated Concordia University 34-31.

On Saturday, the Concordia University Cardinals lost to the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx 34-31. The Cardinals lead 31-20 with under eight minutes remaining, but the Lynx scored two late touchdowns to secure the victory.  The Cardinals were driving the ball down the field, and in my judgement, were hosed on two calls near the end of the game.  A long completion was ruled out of bounds, followed by a mismanaged clock situation that should have given the Cardinals 1 or 2 more seconds to run a final play.  The referees stormed off of the field as if they were suddenly involved in a fire drill.
Both teams compete in the Mideast League of the MSFA (Mid-States Football Association), and both schools are NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) programs.  Click on the links below for more information about the NAIA, or the Mid-States Football Association.
The Concordia Cardinals finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 5-6.  The season was highlighted on October 10th, by a 35-14 win against #5 Nationally ranked Saint Xavier University.  Click on the link below for more information about the Concordia University athletic program.
