Can Curling Catch?







     The 2018 Winter Olympics are over, and the sport of curling gained popularity as the USA men's National team won the gold medal.  Curling doesn't typically get a lot of media coverage, or television exposure, but the sport may continue to grow regardless.  Click on the link below for more information about the USA curling team.

-  The USA men's curling gold medal winning team consisted of John Shuster, Matt Hamilton, Tyler George, John Landsteiner, and alternate Joe Polo.  The team was coached by Phil Drobnick.



-  The USA women's curling team finished the 2018 Winter Olympics in 5th place with an overall record of 4-5.



-  The Detroit Curling Club was founded in 1885.



-  The Detroit Curling Club moved to Ferndale in 2002.

Catholic Central 8-0 Hartland





On Wednesday, February 21st, the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks defeated the Hartland Eagles 8-0.  











     On Wednesday, February 21st, the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks defeated the Hartland Eagles 8-0.  The game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs from last Wednesday's hockey game.
     Detroit Catholic Central competes in Division 1 of the MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association), and the Shamrocks currently have an overall record of 20-3-1 (1 tie).  The Hartland Eagles compete in Division 2 of the MHSAA, and the Eagles currently have an overall record of 18-6-1 (1 tie).  Click on the links below for more information about Detroit Catholic Central, Hartland High School or the MHSAA.

Finland 5-3 Sweden





On Thursday, February 15th, Finland defeated Sweden 5-3.  It was part of the U-18 Five Nations Tournament. 











     On Thursday, February 15th, Finland defeated Sweden 5-3.  It was all part of the Under 18 Five Nations Tournament that took place at the USA Hockey Arena from February 13th - February 17th.  The U-18 Five Nations Tournament featured USA (3-1), Finland (2-2), Sweden (2-2), Russia (2-2), and the Czech Republic (1-4).  Team USA won the U-18 5 Nations Tournament by defeating Finland 4-0 on Saturday night.

Finland finished the U-18 Five Nations Tournament with an overall record of 2-2.






Sweden finished the U-18 Five Nations Tournament with an overall record of 2-2.






#37 Toni Utunen received a two minute minor late in the 3rd period. 






USA won the U-18 Five Nations Tournament by defeating Finland 4-0 on Saturday night.

Cornerstone 103-70 UofM-D





On Wednesday, February 14th, the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles defeated the UofM-D Wolverines 103-70.











     On Wednesday, February 14th, the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles defeated the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines 103-70.  Both schools are NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) programs, and both teams compete against each other in the WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference).  Click on the links below for more information about the NAIA, or the WHAC.

UofM-D 91-84 Indiana Tech





On Wednesday, January 31st, the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines defeated the Indiana Tech Warriors 91-84.











     On Wednesday, January 31st, the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines defeated the Indiana Tech Warriors 91-84 in overtime.  Both schools are NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) programs, and both teams compete against each other in the WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference).  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs from Wednesday night's college basketball showdown.  Click on the links below for more information about the NAIA, or the WHAC.

UofM-D 6-5 Davenport





On Friday, January 26th, the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines defeated the Davenport University Panthers 6-5.











     On Friday, January 26th, the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines defeated the Davenport University Panthers 6-5 in a shootout.  The Wolverines also defeated the Panthers 6-5 on Saturday night.  Both schools compete in Division 1 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association), but the Wolverines also compete in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Division of the ACHA.  Scroll down to see exclusive photos from last Friday's college hockey game.
