#10 Mott Jams Over Schoolcraft 96-46

Mott's Coreontae DeBerry slammed the ball with authority!

Yesterday, the #10 Nationally ranked Mott Community College Bears cruised to a 96-46 victory over the Schoolcraft College Ocelots.  It was the final home game of the year for Schoolcraft, and the Ocelots acknowledged their six Sophomores for a  "Sophomore Day" celebration. The Ocelots trailed by ten points  (16-6) with twelve minutes left to play in the first half.  Mott's defensive pressure forced several turnovers, and Mott converted those turnovers into easy fast break buckets.  The Ocelots struggled to score, and had no answer for the inside presence of Mott's 6'7 Sophomore Forward Fred Mattison, and 6'9 Freshman Center Coreontae BeBerry.  Mattison, and DeBerry combined to showcase several highlight dunks that impressed even the Schoolcraft faithful.  They were also a force on the defensive end altering shots, and gobbling up rebounds.  By the end of the first half the Bears had built an insurmountable lead, and Mott let up on the gas pedal by resting their starters.  Schoolcraft also expanded their roster in the second half, allowing their young back ups to gain experience for the future.  When it was all said and done the Mott Bears proved why they are Nationally ranked, and why they are the defending National Champions.  Mott also won the National Championship in 2003, 2007, and 2008.  In 2011 they were the National Runner-up.

Mott Bears Sophomore Forward #23 Fred Mattison went strong to the bucket.
