Boat Race On Land Photo Album

The boats easily become detached from their vehicles during the Boat Race.

Due to the popularity of the Flat Rock Speedway posts, I've decided to post more photos from the 2012 Grillers Select BBQ Sauce School Bus Figure 8 race which took place on September 15th, 2012.  Before the busses took to the track, there was a figure 8 race featuring boats towed by cars.  Here are some exclusive photos!  Feel free to leave a comment or email the Mitten State Sports Report at mittenstatesportsreport@rocketmail.com  Click on the link below for more information about Flat Rock Speedway.

Who put that boat there?

The boat was crashed into several times during the race!

Opening Night At Flat Rock Speedway

ARCA racing is back at Flat Rock Speedway!

Last Saturday was opening night for racing at Flat Rock Speedway, and Mitten State Sports Report was there to take in all the action.  The weather was cooperative, and the intensity of the event was on display from the moment I passed through the gates.  When I sat down in the grandstands, I looked up and witnessed an accident take place on the far side of the track.  Throughout the night there were several crashes including a small engine fire under the hood of one of the race cars.  As for the actual racing, it was a phenominal event that only got better as the night went on.  The family friendly environment, along with the great food, made coming to the track a memorable experience and is a trip worth repeating.  The staff at Flat Rock Speedway was also very friendly, and helpful in assisting fans with questions and concerns.

There's a seat waiting for you in the grandstands!

Flat Rock Speedway offers fans the oppurtunity to connect with their favorite drivers in several unique ways.  Autograph alley is a new addition to the track this year, and gives fans a chance to meet the drivers that end up in victory lane.  Announcers constantly provide fans with information, along with historical facts about the race track, and drivers.  When wrecks cause the action to be put on hold, interviewed race car drivers keep the fans entertained, and informed of even the most minor details.  Next Saturday night, (May 12th) Flat Rock Speedway celebrates 50 years of figure 8 racing with a 'Racers Reunion' night.  Fans will get a chance to walk on the track, and meet current drivers along with heroes from the past.

A view from the grandstands!

Whether you like the 'Late Models', 'Street Stock', or the intensity of the figure 8's, Flat Rock Speedway has something for everyone.  Gates open hours before the actual races begin, which gives fans the oppurtunity to make a day out of it, and really get value for their hard earned dollar.  The grandstands include an alcohol free section for families, and hills that landscape one side of the track to assist fans who seek a view in the comfort of their favorite lawn chair.  Some of the highlights this season include monster trucks, fireworks, and open practices during the week.  For more info on Flat Rock Speedway check out  http://www.flatrockspeedway.com/
