Memory Lane: 1990 UNLV
The 1990-1991 UNLV Runnin' Rebels are considered to be one of the best college basketball teams of all time. The Runnin' Rebels were the defending National Champions, but the 1990-1991 team did not win the National Championship. The 1990-1991 Runnin' Rebels roster featured three players that went on to be NBA (National Basketball Association) stars including Greg Anthony, Stacey Augmon, and Larry Johnson.
UNLV finished the 1990-1991 season with an overall record of 34-1. UNLV played an up-tempo style of basketball that produced a lot of points, and the Runnin' Rebels often won games in blowout fashion. College players rarely left school early back then, and the UNLV roster featured several experienced upper classmen.
Former Runnin' Rebels George Ackles, and Elmore Spencer (1992 NBA Draft) were also drafted by NBA teams, but both players had more successful college careers. Former UNLV star Anderson Hunt is from Detroit, Michigan.
