     Woodward Sports Network has an excellent sports blog that covers many of our local teams including the Lions, Pistons, Spartans, Tigers, and Wolverines.  Woodward Sports Network also has Podcasts on their website, and videos on their YouTube channel.  "Baligian & Bell Show" features local media personality Sean Baligian, and former Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell.  Some of the writers for Woodward Sports Network include Terry Foster, Jeff Iafrate, Andrew Jonna, Ben Sassin, and Kory Woods.

-  The College Football Bowl season kicks off today at 2:00 p.m. with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.





-  Gildan New Mexico Bowl:  University of New Mexico vs. University of Texas at San Antonio.





-  Quick Lane Bowl:  Ford Field:  December 26th, 2016:  University of Maryland vs. Boston College.





-  The Quick Lane Bowl is formerly known as the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, and before that it was known as the Motor City Bowl.





-  The Detroit Lions signed Joique Bell on December 6th, 2016.  Bell is a former Detroit Lions player.





-  The Detroit Lions released TE Brandon Pettigrew on December 9th, 2016.





-  Brandon Pettigrew was drafted by the Lions in 2009.  He was the 20th overall pick in the 1st round.





-  Detroit Red Wings Forward Luke Glendening played his college hockey career at the University of Michigan.  





-  Detroit Red Wings Forward Justin Abdelkader played his college hockey career at Michigan State University.





-  Detroit Red Wings Defenseman Danny DeKeyser played his college hockey career at Western Michigan University.

-  The Quick Lane Bowl began in 2014.  Rutgers University defeated the University of North Carolina 40-21.



-  The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl was played at Ford Field, in Detroit from 2009-2013.  



-  The Motor City Bowl began in 1997.  It was played at the Pontiac Silverdome.



-  The Cherry Bowl was played at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1984, and in 1985.



-  The Detroit Lions also drafted Matthew Stafford in 2009.  He was the 1st overall pick in the NFL draft.



-  The Detroit Red Wings currently have 9 points, and an overall record of 13-14-4.
