SFLm News: December 2022




     The SFLm (Simulation Football League Minors) Season 6 regular season featured eight teams including the Albuquerque Atoms, the Annapolis Navigators, the Lexington Miners, the Lincoln Rattlesnakes, the Madison Lynx, the Ottawa Cavalry, the San Joe Flight, and the Tacoma Grizzlies.  

     The SFLm Season 6 regular season concluded on Monday, December 5th.  SFL (Simulation Football League), and SFLm games can be seen on Next Level Sports Entertainment, and on the simulationfl YouTube channel.  Next Level Sports and Entertainment is affiliated with For the Fans.  Both brands are part of Eleven Sports.

      The SFLm Season 6 Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, December 10th.  The Albuquerque Atoms (7-1) will host the Ottawa Cavalry (3-5), and the San Jose Flight (6-2) will host the Madison Lynx (6-2).  The Lexington Miners (3-5), the Tacoma Grizzlies (3-5) the Lincoln Rattlesnakes (2-6), and the Annapolis Navigators (2-6) all missed the postseason.

Catholic Central 8-0 PH Northern

     On Tuesday, December 6th, the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks defeated the Port Huron Northern Huskies 8-0.  Both teams compete against each other in Division 1 of the MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association).  Last night's game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of last night's hockey game.

     The Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks are currently in 1st place in the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League - North Conference standings with a conference record of 4-0, and an overall record of 4-0.  The Port Huron Northern Huskies are currently in 4th place in the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League - North Conference standings with a conference record of 1-2. and an overall record of 2-3.  Bloomfield Hils Brother Rice, Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood, and Orchard Lake St. Mary's also compete in the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League - North Conference.

Griffins News: December 2022

 



     The Grand Rapids Griffins are currently in 6th place in the AHL (American Hockey League) Central Division standings with 17 points, and an overall record of 8-11-1 (1 overtime loss).  There are seven teams competing in the AHL Central Division.  There are thirty-two teams competing in the 2022-2023 AHL season.  The Grand Rapids Griffins are an affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.  

     Grand Rapids Griffins Right Winger #17 Taro Hirose currently leads the team in points.  Hirose has accumulated 6 goals, 13 assists, and 19 points in 20 games played this season.  Griffins Center #11 Joel L'Esperance currently leads the team in goals.  L'Esperance has produced 8 goals, 7 assists, and 15 points in 20 games played this season.  

     The Grand Rapids Griffins roster currently features five players that were born in the state of Michigan including Right Winger #55 Gordie Green (Ann Arbor), Defenseman #20 Steven Kampfer (Ann Arbor), Center #11 Joel L'Esperance (Brighton), Right Winger #65 Dominik Shine (Detroit), and Left Winger #32 Tyler Spezia (Detroit).

     ESPN.com/soccer has a terrific website for fans of the World Cup 2022.  ESPN.com/soccer also covers several leagues including Bundesliga (Germany), LaLiga (Spain), LaLiga MX (Mexico), Ligue 1 (France), Major League Soccer (USA), Premier League (England), and Serie A (Italy).  Some of the writers for ESPN.com/soccer include Sam Borden, Rob Dawson, Tom Hamilton, Dale Johnson, Julien Laurens, and James Olley.

     The World Cup 2022 currently features eight teams that will meet in the Quarterfinals.  The winner of England vs. France will play the winner of Morocco vs. Portugal.  The winner of Netherlands vs. Argentina will play the winner of Croatia vs. Brazil.  World Cup 2022 games can be seen on Fox, and FS1.  Replays of World Cup 2022 games can be seen on FS1, and on FS2.

Boyd Is Back

 





     Pitcher Matthew Boyd is returning to the Detroit Tigers for the 2023 season according to several sources including The Athletic, the Detroit Free Press, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and many other reliable news outlets.  Matthew Boyd will most likely earn a spot in the Tigers starting rotation along with other projected starters like #57 Eduardo Rodriguez, #25 Matt Manning, and #56 Spencer Turnbull.  

     #63 Beau Brieske, #49 Alex Faedo, and #43 Joey Wentz are also expected to compete for a spot in the Tigers starting rotation.  #12 Casey Mize could miss the entire 2023 MLB season recovering from Tommy John surgery.  #29 Tarik Skubal could miss most of the 2023 MLB season recovering from flexor tendon surgery.

     Matthew Boyd played for the Detroit Tigers from 2015-2021.  Boyd started on Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers in 2020, and in 2021.  Matthew Boyd started the 2022 MLB season with the San Francisco Giants, but he finished the season with the Seattle Mariners.  Matthew Boyd was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 6th round (175th overall) of the 2013 MLB Draft.

Rockers 6-4 Thunder

     On Friday. December 2nd, the Motor City Rockers defeated the Delaware Thunder 6-4.  The Rockers also earned a 5-3 victory over the Thunder on Saturday night.  Both teams compete against each other in the FPHL (Federal Prospects Hockey League).  Both games were played at Big Boy Arena located at 34400 Utica Road, in Fraser.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs from Friday night's game. 

     The Motor City Rockers are currently in 2nd place in the FPHL Continental Division standings with 34 points, and an overall record of 11-3-3 (3 overtime losses).  The Rockers are currently riding a five-game winning streak.  The Delaware Thunder are currently in 5th place in the FPHL Empire Division standings with 4 points, and an overall record of 1-13-1 (1 overtime loss).  The Thunder have lost ten games in a row.  

     Motor City Rockers Forward #44 Declan Conway currently leads the team in goals.  Conway has accumulated 9 goals, 8 assists, and 17 points in 12 games played this season.  Motor City Rockers Forward #59 Ross Bartlett has produced 6 goals, 11 assists, and 17 points in 13 games played this season.

Firebirds News: December 2022

 



     The Flint Firebirds are currently in 4th place in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) standings with 31 points, and an overall record of 14-8-2-1 (2 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss).  The Flint Firebirds roster currently features two players from the state of Michigan including Right Winger #29 Gavin Hayes (Westland), and Center #91 Owen Pitters (Chesterfield).

     The Flint Firebirds roster currently features six players that have already been selected by NHL (National Hockey League) teams including Goaltender #70 Will Cranley (St. Louis Blues), Defenseman #82 Artem Guryev (San Jose Sharks), Right Winger #29 Gavin Hayes (Chicago Blackhawks), Center #13 Braeden Kressler (Toronto Maple Leafs), Defenseman #79 Dmitry Kuzmin (Winnipeg Jets), and Center #93 Amadeus Lombardi (Detroit Red Wings).

     Fint Firebirds Center #93 Amadeus Lombardi currently leads the team in points, goals, and in assists.  Lombardi has accumulated 13 goals, 19 assists, and 32 points in 25 games played this season.  Right Winger #29 Gavin Hayes has currently produced 12 goals, 12 assists, and 24 points in 25 games played this season.  The Flint Firebirds traded Left Winger #78 Brennan Othmann to the Peterborough Petes on Saturday, November 12th, 2022.

Spirit News: November 2022

 



     The Saginaw Spirit are currently in 1st place in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) Western Conference standings with 35 points, and an overall record of 17-6-1 (1 overtime loss).  The Saginaw Spirit roster currently features three players that have already been selected by NHL (National Hockey League) teams including Goaltender #30 Tristan Lennox (New York Islanders), Defenseman #10 Pavel Mintyukov (Anaheim Ducks), and Center #24 Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas Golden Knights). 

     The Saginaw Spirit roster currently features six players from the state of Michigan including Right Winger #43 Davis Codd (Brighton), Defenseman #27 P.J. Forgione (Novi), Right Winger #12 Dean Loukus (Calumet), Goaltender #29 Andrew Oke (Shelby Township), Defenseman #22 Mitchell Smith (Saginaw). and Right Winger #21 Liam Storch (Rochester Hills).

     Saginaw Spirit Defenseman #10 Pavel Mintyukov is currently 2nd in the OHL in points with 35.  Mintyukov has accumulated 12 goals, and 23 assists in 24 games played this season.  Spirit Goaltender #30 Tristan Lennox is currently 2nd in the OHL in wins with 12.

Cruise News: November 2022




     The Motor City Cruise are off to a slow start in the 2022 Showcase Cup.  The Cruise are currently in last place (16th) in the NBA G League Eastern Conference standings with an overall record of 2-8.  The 2022 Showcase Cup Final is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 22nd.  Team records will reset after the 2022 Showcase Cup, and the 2022-2023 NBA G League regular season will begin on Tuesday, December 27th.  

     The Motor City Cruise roster features several young prospects including Jules Bernard, Buddy Boeheim, Devontae Cacok, Kyler Edwards, Jalen Johnson, Braxton Key, Stanley Umude, and RJ Nembhard Jr.  The Motor City Cruise play their home games at the Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit.
