Chidester Wins Silver

 



     Catcher Amanda Chidester played a pivotal roll in helping the USA Softball Team earn a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.  Chidester hit a walk-off two-run double against Australia in the semifinal.  Team USA lost to Japan 2-0 in the gold medal final on Tuesday, July 27th.  Amanda Chidester played college softball at the University of Michigan.  Chidester also played high school softball at St. Frances Cabrini High School.  Amanda Chidester grew up in Allen Park, Michigan.

-  Amanda Chidester is the reigning NPF Player of the Year.  


-  Amanda Chidester was named Big Ten Player of the Year twice in college.


-  Amanda Chidester also plays as an Infielder. 


-  Amanda Chidester was also mentioned on the Mitten State Sports Report on September 12th, 2020.

New Pro Softball League







     Athletes Unlimited has a new pro softball league that just kicked off last month.  The 2020 Athletes Unlimited Softball season consists of 30 games that are scheduled to run through Monday, September 28th.  All games are being played at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois.  Athletes Unlimited Softball games can be seen on CBSSN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPNU.
     Athletes Unlimited is different than other sports leagues.  Athletes Unlimited Softball teams change every week, and players can earn points as an individual, and as a team towards MVP (Most Valuable Player) titles, and cash bonuses.  Athletes Unlimited is also planning to offer Women's Pro Volleyball beginning in 2021.
     Some of the top performers in the 2020 Athletes Unlimited Softball season include (in alphabetical order) Victoria Heyward, Aleshia Ocasio, Cat Osterman, Erika Piancastelli, Abby Ramirez, Janie Reed, DJ Sanders, Gwen Svekis, and Jessica Warren.  Catcher #36 Amanda Chidester, and Pitcher #28 Haylie Wagner played college softball at the University of Michigan.  Amanda Chidester grew up in Allen Park, Michigan.
