Bye Bye Berkley Bruins

The Berkley Bruins (in black, and yellow) have ceased operations.

The Berkley Bruins have become dormant.  The MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) announced on Monday that the team has ceased operations, and the Berkley Bruins will not compete in the MWJHL for the remainder of the season.  The team was scheduled to travel to Decatur over the weekend, but the Bruins never made the trip, and the team was forced to forfeit both games.  The schedule posted on  www.mwjhl.com  showed that the remainder of the Bruins games would begin at 12:00 a.m. and the games would be played at the MWJHL Arena (which does not exist).  The official website of the Berkley Bruins was not being updated, and the site as since been eliminated from cyberspace.  The Berkley Bruins will forfeit their remaining games, and a dispersal draft for all Bruins players is scheduled for tonight (7:30 p.m.).
The Berkley Bruins lasted a little over a season in the MWJHL, and the team played all of their home games at the Berkley Ice Arena.  The Bruins compiled a 5-12 overall record this season, and the team finished the 2013-2014 season with an 11-31 (1 shootout loss) overall record.  Financial instability is believed to be the reason for the termination of the organization.  Click on www.mwjhl.com for more information.  Scroll down to relive the memories of the Berkley Bruins.
