North Stars Dormant





The Traverse City North Stars began as the Hartland Hounds back in 2012.











     The 2017-2018 USPHL (U.S. Premier Hockey League) season is taking place without the participation of the Traverse City North Stars.  The North Stars organization officially became dormant on July 4th, 2017.  The Traverse City North Stars began as the Hartland Hounds back in 2012.  The Hounds competed in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) for three seasons, and the team won all three Veteran's Memorial Cups. 
     The Hounds moved to Traverse City in 2013, and the MWJHL merged with the USPHL in 2015.  The Traverse City Hounds became the Traverse City North Stars in 2016.  The North Stars will continue to update their official website with news regarding former players.  Click on the links below for more information about the USPHL, or the Traverse City Hounds.

Hounds Are North Stars





The Traverse City Hounds are now known as the Traverse City North Stars.











     The Traverse City Hounds are now known as the Traverse City North Stars.  The North Stars compete in the USPHL (U.S. Premier Hockey League), and currently have an overall record of 12-1.  Click on the links below for more information about the Traverse City North Stars, or the U.S. Premier Hockey League.
     The North Stars franchise began in Hartland during the 2012-2013 season when the team competed in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League).  The Hartland Hounds won the 2012-2013 Veteran's Memorial Cup, and moved to Traverse City the following year.  The Traverse City Hounds continued their sucess in the MWJHL, and won the 2013-2014 Veterans's Memorial Cup, along with the 2014-2015 Veteran's Memorial Cup. The Hounds moved to the USPHL for the 2015-2016 season, and finished in 2nd place (in the Eastern Conference of the Midwest Division) with an overall record of 37-11.  The USPHL has shuffled around some teams, and divisions for the 2016-2017 season.  The Traverse City North Stars currently compete in the USP3HL Midwest Division.

-  #77 Austin Flores currently leads the North Stars in scoring with 12 goals in 14 games played.



-  #10 Howie Rose currently leads the North Stars in points with 23 (8 goals, 15 assists) in 14 games played.  



-  #26 Parker Hebden has contributed 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 14 games for the North Stars.



-  Scott Gardiner is the General Manager of the Traverse City North Stars.



-  Noah Anderson is the Assistant Coach of the Traverse City Hounds.

Hounds 5 - 3 Wild





Last night, the Traverse City Hounds (in dark blue) defeated the Michigan Wild (in light blue) 5-3.











     Last night, the Traverse City Hounds defeated the Michigan Wild 5-3.  Both teams compete in the Midwest Division of the USPHL (U.S. Premier Hockey League).  The Michigan Wild play all of their home games at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena located 35500 E. 8 Mile Road.  Click on the link below for more information about the USPHL.
     The Traverse City Hounds currently have an overall record of 8-1.  The Hounds played the previous three seasons in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League), and won three MWJHL Championships.  They were known as the Hartland Hounds during their first year in the MWJHL.  The Michigan Wild currently have an overall record of 1-12.  The Wild also played the previous three seasons in the MWJHL, and the franchise was known as the Michigan Ice Dogs.

Ice Dogs Are Wild!





The Michigan Ice Dogs (in white) will now be known as the Michigan Wild!  The MWJHL has merged with the USPHL. 











     The Michigan Ice Dogs will now be known as the Michigan Wild for the 2015-2016 season.  The Ice Dogs have played the past three seasons in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League), but the MWJHL has merged with the USPHL (United States Premier Hockey League) to form a new Midwest Division.  The MWJHL only featured 7 teams during the 2014-2015 season, but the new USPHL Midwest Division will include 18 teams. The Wild will compete in the Eastern Conference with former MWJHL foes like the Alpena Flyers, and the Detroit Fighting Irish, but new opponents such as the Indiana Attack, and the Kalkaska Rhinos will now appear on the Michigan Wild schedule.  Click on the links below for more information about the Michigan Wild, or the USPHL.  
     The Motor City Monarchs played last season in the MWJHL, and they will now be known as the Motor City Hawks.  The Hawks will join the Michigan Wild in the Eastern Conference of the USPHL.  The Hawks will continue their rivalry with the Traverse City Hounds, but the Hawks will now face new opponents like the Tri-City Ice Hawks, and the Marquette Royales.  Click on the link below for more information about the Motor City Hawks.
     The Soo Firehawks have played the past three seasons in the MWJHL, but the Firehawks are calling it quits.  The team has ceased operations, and owners Doug, and Paula Goudreau have issued a statement on the Soo Firehawks website.  Click on the link below for more information about the Soo Firehawks.

MWJHL Playoffs





The Michigan Ice Dogs have qualified for the 2015 MWJHL Playoffs!  All 7 MWJHL teams qualified for postseason play!











     The MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) Playoffs begin tonight, and all 7 MWJHL teams have qualified for the postseason.  The Traverse City Hounds have the #1 overall seed, and they have earned themselves a first round bye.  The remaining teams will be reseeded after the 1st round, and the Champion will claim the MWJHL Veteran's Memorial Cup.  The Traverse City Hounds are the two time defending MWJHL Champions!     The #2 Motor City Monarchs will host the #7 Michigan Ice Dogs in a best of three game series.  All 3 games (if necessary) will be played at the Fraser Hockeyland located at 34400 Utica Road.  Game 1 is scheduled to begin tonight at 7:15 p.m.  Click on the links below for more information about the Motor City Monarchs, or the Michigan Ice Dogs.
     The #3 Decatur Blaze will host the #6 Soo Firehawks in a best of 3 game series.  All 3 games (if necessary) will be played at the Decatur Civic Center located at 1 Gary K. Ice Dogs vs. Monarchs





On Saturday, the Motor City Monarchs defeated the Michigan Ice Dogs (in white) 4-1.












     On Saturday, the Motor City Monarchs defeated the Michigan Ice Dog 4-1 at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena. Both teams compete in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League), and Saturday's game marked the final regular season game for both clubs.  The 2014-2015 MWJHL Playoffs begin this weekend, and all 7 teams have qualified for the postseason.  The Motor City Monarchs will host the Michigan Ice Dogs in a best of three game series, and the Monarchs will have the home ice advantage for the entire series.  Game 1 is scheduled for Friday March 13th, puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
     The Motor City Monarchs finished the 2014-2015 regular season in 2nd place in the MWJHL standings with 66 points, and an overall record of 33-13.  The Monarchs play all of their home games at the Fraser Hockeyland located at 34400 Utica Road.  Click on the link below for more information about the Motor City Monarchs.

Games can become physical when rivals get together on the ice!





#13 Trevor Pode scored 33 goals in 36 games this season.  Pode added 43 assists for a total of 76 points.

Detroit 5 - Decatur 4 in SO





#8 Ken Winter (from Eastpointe) scored in the shootout to help lift the Detroit Fighting Irish past the Decatur Blaze 5-4.











     The MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) returned to the Ice Box on Wednesday night, and everyone's glutes were activated for action.  The Detroit Fighting Irish defeated the Decatur Blaze 5-4 in the shootout.  The game featured a matchup between the 3rd, and 4th place teams in the MWJHL standings.     The Detroit Fighting Irish are currently in 3rd place in the MWJHL standings with 55 points, and an overall record of 26-13 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses).  The Fighting Irish play all of their home games at the Ice Box, located at 21092 Telegraph Road, in Brownstown Township.  Scroll down to check out exclusive photos from Wednesday night's MWJHL showdown.

Michigan vs. Detroit






On December 19th, the Detroit Fighting Irish (in green) defeated the Michigan Ice Dogs (in white) 6-3.











     The Michigan Ice Dogs, and the Detroit Fighting Irish both compete against each other in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League).  The Fighting Irish are currently in 3rd place in the MWJHL standings with 45 points, and an overall record of 31-10 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses).  The Fighting Irish play all of their home games at the Ice Box.  The Ice Box is located on 21902 Telegraph Road, in Brownstown Township. Monarchs Hockey






The MC Monarchs (in white) are in 2nd place in the MWJHL standings with 48 points, and an overall record of 24-10.










     The MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) includes 7 junior hockey teams from our local area.  The Traverse City Hounds have dominated the league for three seasons, but the expansion of the league has created some serious competition. The MC Monarchs are playing their 1st season in the Midwest Junior Hockey league, and they currently find themselves in 2nd place in the MWJHL standings with 48 points, and an overall record of 24-10.  The MC Monarchs play all of their home games at Fraser Hockeyland located on 34400 Utica Road.

Bye Bye Berkley Bruins





The Berkley Bruins (in black, and yellow) have ceased operations.  










     The Berkley Bruins have become dormant.  The MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) announced on Monday that the team has ceased operations, and the Berkley Bruins will not compete in the MWJHL for the remainder of the season.  The team was scheduled to travel to Decatur over the weekend, but the Bruins never made the trip, and the team was forced to forfeit both games.  The schedule posted on  www.mwjhl.com  showed that the remainder of the Bruins games would begin at 12:00 a.m. and the games would be played at the MWJHL Arena (which does not exist).  The official website of the Berkley Bruins was not being updated, and the site as since been eliminated from cyberspace.  The Berkley Bruins will forfeit their remaining games, and a dispersal draft for all Bruins players is scheduled for tonight (7:30 p.m.).
     The Berkley Bruins lasted a little over a season in the MWJHL, and the team played all of their home games at the Berkley Ice Arena.  The Bruins compiled a 5-12 overall record this season, and the team finished the 2013-2014 season with an 11-31 (1 shootout loss) overall record.  Financial instability is believed to be the reason for the termination of the organization.  Click on www.mwjhl.com for more information.  Scroll down to relive the memories of the Berkley Bruins.










The Berkley Bruins won't be celebrating any more goals.  The Bruins are defunct, and they'll forfeit the rest of their games.
 




The fans of the Berkley Bruins will have to find another team to cheer for!






The Berkley Bruins played all of their games at the Berkley Ice Arena.  





The Berkley Bruins compiled an overall record of 5-12 during the 2014-2015 season.  The Bruins finished 11-31 last season.

Jr. Hockey in Brownstown




On Wednesday night, the MC Monarchs (in red, and white) defeated the Detroit Fighting Irish 5-3.










     The MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) is constantly growing, and the Downriver area now has a team to follow.  The Detroit Fighting Irish play all of their home games at the Ice Box, in Brownstown, and tickets are priced at $5.00.  The MWJHL features local teams, local players, and offers quality hockey for fans of the game.  The Ice Box is located at 21902 Telegraph Road.

The MC Monarchs celebrated the 5-3 victory.  The Monarchs improved their overall record to 12-5.
