UofM-D vs. John Carroll





On Friday night, the University of Michigan Dearborn hockey club hosted John Carroll University. 





Both schools compete in Division 1 of the ACHA  (American Collegiate Hockey Association).

UofM-D junior James Marchese gets knocked down, but he gets up again! 





The game was physical, and featured two evenly matched hockey teams!





The game was tied at four at the end of regulation!  Neither team scored in overtime so it went to a shootout!





UofM-D won 5-4 in the shootout!  John Carroll goaltender #29 Justin Camuto remained on the ice in disbelief!

UofM-D 5 - John Carroll 4 in SO





On Friday night, the University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team defeated John Carroll University 5-4 in a shootout!










     The University of Michigan Dearborn hosted John Carroll University on Friday night for an ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) showdown featuring two division 1 programs from separate Conferences.  John Carroll University competes in the CHMA (College Hockey Mid-America) Conference, and came into Friday nights action in second place with 38 points, and a 13-7 overall record.  This was the second time this season that the Mitten State Sports Report has seen John Carroll University in action.  The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey club competes in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League), and came into Friday nights matchup in fourth place with 34 points, and an overall record of 11-17. This was the fourth time this season that the Mitten State Sports Report has seen the University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team in action.
     Friday nights game needed extra time to decide a winner like most games covered on the Mitten State Sports Report!  The University of Michigan Dearborn defeated John Carroll 5-4 in a shootout.  The Wolverines picked up a 9-6 win at John Carroll on Saturday night, but remain in fourth place in the GLCHL Conference with 38 points, and a 13-17 overall record. EMU vs. John Carroll





Eastern Michigan University (in green, and white) battled John Carroll (in dark blue) on Sunday afternoon!





The game was played at the Taylor Sportsplex.  Eastern Michigan plays all of their home games there!





John Carroll scored the first goal of the game 9 minutes, and 5 seconds into the 2nd period.





EMU outshot John Carroll 40-35.  EMU played on Friday, and Saturday before welcoming JCU to town on Sunday!





John Carroll celebrated three goals in the second period.  They would add another in the third.






John Carroll currently sits in 2nd place in the CHMA (College Hockey Mid-America) Conference!






EMU is currently in 4th place in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) Conference.





John Carroll defeated Eastern Michigan 4-0.  EMU dropped to 5-7 overall.  Click on the links below.

John Carroll 4 - EMU 0





John Carroll University (in dark blue) defeated Eastern Michigan University (in green, and white) 4-0 on Sunday afternoon!








     The Taylor Sportsplex was the venue for ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) hockey last Sunday afternoon.  The John Carroll University Blue Streaks brought their 6-5 record to Taylor to take on the 5-6 Eastern Michigan University Eagles.  Eastern Michigan was playing their third game in three consecutive days, and failed to score against the Blue Streaks on Sunday.  Both teams were held scoreless until midway through the second period when #20 Kevin Vinyard found the back of the net to give the Blue Steaks an early lead.  John Carroll scored another goal about a minute later when #21 Mike Gionta cashed in on the power play.  #17 Jeff Russell added two more goals to the scoreboard (1 in the 2nd period, and 1 in the 3rd period) to give John Carroll the 4-0 win over Eastern Michigan.  The Eagles outshot the Blue Streaks 40-35, but took bad penalties, and allowed John Carroll to work the puck in the EMU zone, and take quality shots on goal.  John Carroll improved their overall record to 7-5 (with two overtime wins, and one shootout loss).  Eastern Michigan fell to 5-7 overall (with one overtime win).

John Carroll's #29 Justin Camuto stopped 40 shots on Sunday afternoon!  The senior goalie earned the shutout victory! 
 





Eastern Michigan University fell to 5-7 overall!  The Eagles play all of their home games at the Taylor Sportsplex!
