Dobnak In St. Paul

 






     Former Utica Unicorns Pitcher #23 Randy Dobnak is currently playing for the St. Paul Saints.  Dobnak currently has an overall record of 4-4 with a 4.67 ERA, and 54 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched this season.  The St. Paul Saints are the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. 

     Randy Dobnak played for the Utica Unicorns in 2017.  Dobnak played for the Minnesota Twins from 2019-2022.  Dobnak played college baseball at Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia (NCAA Division II program).  Randy Dobnak grew up in South Park, Pennsylvania.

Beavers Win Title

 


The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers won the 2022 USPBL Championship.




     On Sunday, September 11th, the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers defeated the Utica Unicorns 8-6 to win the 2022 USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) Championship.  Beavers Catcher #16 Felix Aberouette was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Championship Game.  Aberouette went 4-5 with 3 home runs, and 5 RBI (runs batted in).  

     The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers also defeated the Westside Woolly Mammoths 18-5 in the 2022 USPBL Semifinals.  The Beavers finished the 2022 USPBL regular season with the second-best overall record at 22-22.  The Utica Unicorns finished the 2022 USPBL regular season with the best overall record at 28-16.

-  The Westside Woolly Mammoths defeated the Eastside Diamond Hoppers 6-4 in the 1st round of the 2022 USPBL Playoffs.   


-  Beavers Pitcher #6 James Krick earned the win in the Championship Game.  


-  Beavers Pitcher #35 Nick Shaw picked up the save in the Championship Game.  Nick Shaw is from Coldwater, Michigan. 


-  The Beavers also won the USPBL Championship in 2017, and in 2018.


-  The Utica Unicorns won the USPBL Championship in 2016, 2019, 2020, and in 2021. 


-  The USPBL plays their games at Jimmy John's Field located at 7171 Auburn Road, in Utica.

Beavers vs. Unicorns

     On Saturday, September 3rd, the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers played the Utica Unicorns in a doubleheader at Jimmy John's Field in Utica.  The Unicorns defeated the Beavers 4-4 in a "Sudden Death" format in the first game of the doubleheader.  The Beavers beat the Unicorns 4-2 in the second game of the doubleheader.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) action in Utica. 

     The Utica Unicorns finished the 2022 USPBL regular season in 1st place in the East Division standings with an overall record of 28-16.  The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers finished the 2022 USPBL regular season in 1st place in the West Division standings with an overall record of 22-22.  Championship Weekend runs from September 9th - September 11th.

-  The Eastside Diamond Hoppers finished the 2022 USPBL regular season in 2nd place in the East Division standings with an overall record of 21-23.

Utica 4-4 Eastside

     On Friday, August 13th, the Utica Unicorns tied the Eastside Diamond Hoppers 4-4 after 9 innings.  The conclusion of the game is supposed to resume on a later date.  The Utica Unicorns are currently in 1st place in the USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) East Division standings with an overall record of 19-11.  The Eastside Diamond Hoppers are currently in 2nd place in the USPBL East Division standings with an overall record of 14-13.

Unicorns Are Champions

     On Sunday, September 27th, the Utica Unicorns defeated the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers 11-9 to win the 2020 USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) Championship.  The Unicorns finished the 2020 regular season in 1st place in the USPBL standings with an overall record of 22-13.  The Unicorns also won the USPBL Championship in 2019.

C.C. Alumnist In USPBL





Nolan Clenney played High School baseball for the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks.











     Nolan Clenney played High School baseball for the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks.  Nolan Clenney currently pitches in relief for the Utica Unicorns.  Clenney is primarily used in the closer roll, and Clenney recently closed for the East in the 2020 USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) All Star Game.
     Nolan Clenney played college baseball at North Carolina State University.  Clenney had a 2.25 ERA (earned run average) during his (Redshirt) Senior season for the Wolfpack.  Clenney also played Junior College at Brunswick Community College.
     There are four teams competing in the 2020 USPBL season.  The Utica Unicorns are currently in 1st place in the USPBL East Division with an overall record of 13-9.  2020 USPBL games are currently 7 innings, and the first game of a Saturday doubleheader is 5 innings.  The 2020 USPBL Championship Game is scheduled for Sunday, September 27th.  The Utica Unicorns won the 2019 USPBL Championship.

Crusader To Unicorn





Infielder Frankie Lucska played his college baseball career at Madonna University.  Lucska now plays in the USPBL.

     Infielder Frankie Lucska played his college baseball career for the Madonna University Crusaders.  Lucska now plays in the USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) for the Utica Unicorns.  Frankie Lucska is on the roster for the 2020 USPBL Home Run Derby, and the 2020 USPBL All-Star Game scheduled for this Friday, August 14th. 
     Frankie Lucska had a college career batting average of .366.  Lucska also accumulated 16 home runs, and 105 RBI (runs batted in) in 119 games for the Madonna University Crusaders.  Frankie Lucska usually appears in the middle of the Unicorns lineup, but Lucska has recently batted in the lead off spot for Utica.
      The Utica Unicorns are currently in 1st place in the USPBL East Division standings with an overall record of 12-6.  There are four teams competing in the 2020 USPBL season, and games are currently 7 innings (the first game of a Saturday doubleheader is 5 innings).  The 2020 USPBL Championship Game is scheduled for Sunday, September 27th, at 1:05 p.m.

     On Saturday, May 25th, the Eastside Diamond Hoppers defeated the Utica Unicorns 12-0.  Both teams compete against each other in the East Division of the USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League).  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USPBL action.
     The 2019 USPBL season features 4 teams including the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers, the Westside Woolly Mammoths, the Eastside Diamond Hoppers, and the Utica Unicorns.  The USPBL plays all of their games at Jimmy John's Field located at 7171 Auburn Road, in Utica.

Unicorns vs. Diamond Hoppers
