     "Kickoff with Boomer and Valenti" can be listened to on Sunday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on 97.1 The Ticket.  Former NFL (National Football League) Quarterback Boomer Esiason, and 97.1 The Ticket afternoon show host Mike Valenti break down the weekly NFL schedule to offer opinions, and predictions about all of the upcoming games.  "The Valenti Show with Rico" can also be listened to on weekdays from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on 97.1 The Ticket.

Lions Back On The Ticket

 

     Detroit Lions games will once again be heard on 97.1 The Ticket beginning in the 2021-2022 season.  Detroit Lions President Rod Wood made the announcement yesterday on "The Morning Show with Stoney & Jansen".  The Lions moved to WJR-AM News Talk 760 in 2016 after previously spending several seasons on 97.1 The Ticket.  Detroit Pistons games, Detroit Tigers games, and Detroit Red Wings games can also be listened to on 97.1 The Ticket.

State Champs! On The Ticket

      The MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) Football Playoffs are well underway, and the "State Champs Scoreboard Show" is the destination for news, scores, and analysis.  The "State Champs Scoreboard Show" airs on Friday night's during the Fall season on 97.1 The Ticket.  Lorne Plant, and Tom Markowski host the weekly FM radio show, and Scott Burnsein is the co-host.  The next two Friday shows will air directly following Detroit Red Wings games.  97.1 The Ticket also broadcasts live Detroit Tigers games, and live Detroit Pistons games.  Click on the links below for more information about 97.1 The Ticket, the MHSAA, or State Champs! As The Ticket Turns

     Terry Foster is the latest on air personality to leave 97.1 The Ticket.  Foster retired from his afternoon roll with Mike Valenti at the end of April, 2017.  Foster was off the air for most of 2016 with health problems, but made a brief return before retiring.
     Sarah Fouracre also exited 97.1 The Ticket back in December, 2016 when she was bumped from Jamie & Stoney.  The morning show was formerly known as Stoney & Bill, but Bill McAllister was let go in August of 2016.
    Detroit Pistons games will now be broadcast on 97.1 The Ticket beginning next season.  Pistons games were previously broadcast on 105.1, but the station switched their format from sports to Hip Hop and R&B back in June of 2016.  Click on the link below for more information about 97.1 The Ticket.

     Terry Foster was a sports writer for the Detroit News for 27 years before retiring last December.  Foster also wrote a book called "100 Things Tiger Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die".  Foster is the co-host of an afternoon radio show that can be heard weekdays from 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. on 97.1 The Ticket.

Sports Talk Radio Rivalry

     There are two choices on the FM dial when it comes to sports talk radio in the Metro Detroit area.  97.1 The Ticket is a CBS affiliate, and Detroit Sports 105.1 is affiliated with ESPN Radio.  Detroit Sports 105.1 started off strong when it arrived on the airwaves in August of 2013, but 97.1 The Ticket currently offers a stronger selection of programming.  97.1 The Ticket broadcasts Detroit Tigers games, and Detroit Red Wings games.  Detroit Sports 105.1 broadcasts Detroit Pistons games.
     Drew Lane left Detroit Sports 105.1 back in October, and his departure was considered surprising.  Detroit Sports 105.1 is simulcasting less ESPN Radio shows like "Mike & Mike", and the changes could push listeners away.  Click on the link below for more information about Detroit Sports 105.1.
