USA 4-3 Dubuque

     On Saturday, February 22nd, the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-18 Team defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints 4-3 in a shootout.  Team USA Forward #43 Mikey Berchild scored the game winning goal in the shootout.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Team USA plays their home games at USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.

     The Dubuque Fighting Saints are currently in 1st place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 64 points, and an overall record of 31-14-0-2 (2 shootout losses).  Team USA is currently in 8th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 29 points, and an overall record of 13-26-1-2 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses).  

     USA NTDP Goaltender #1 Joey Slavick is from Westland, Michigan.  The Dubuque Fighting Saints currently have four players on their roster from the state of Michigan including Forward #13 Michael Barron (Canton), Goaltender #35 Liam Beerman (Marquette), Forward #20 Gavin Lock (Plymouth), and Forward #26 Lucas Van Vliet (Livonia).

-  The USA NTDP U-18 Team also defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints 4-3 on Friday, February 21st.


-  The USA NTDP U-17 Team is scheduled to host the Omaha Lancers this Friday night, and again on Saturday night.  Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.   


-  Greg Moore is the Head Coach of the USA NTDP U-18 Team.


-  Dubuque Fighting Saints Forward #26 Lucas Van Vliet was drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights.


-  Dubuque Fighting Saints Forward #25 Cole Spicer was drafted by the Boston Bruins.


-  Evan Dixon is the Head Coach of the Dubuque Fighting Saints.


-  The Fargo Force won the 2024 Clark Cup (USHL Championship).  The Force defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints 3-1 in a best-of-five game series.

Youngstown 6-5 USA

     On Thursday, January 30th, the Youngstown Phantoms defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 6-5 in a shootout.  Phantoms Defenseman #13 Luke Osburn scored the game winning goal in the shootout. Luke Osburn is from Plymouth, Michigan.

     The USA NTDP, and the Youngstown Phantoms both compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Team USA plays their home games at USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan. Muskegon 8-1 USA



On Saturday, January 25th, the Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the USA NTDP U-17 Team 8-1.



     On Saturday, January 25th, the Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 8-1.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Saturday's game was played at USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USHL action in Plymouth.

     The Muskegon Lumberjacks are currently in 2nd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 50 points, and an overall record of 22-10-2-4 (2 overtime losses, and 4 shootout losses).  Team USA is currently in 7th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 24 points, and an overall record of 11-22-1-1 (1 overtime loss, and 1 shootout loss).  

     Muskegon Lumberjacks Forward #23 Ethan Drabicki is from Livonia, Michigan.  Team USA Defenseman #41 Tyler Martyniuk is from Washington Township, Michigan.  Team USA also fields a U-18 Team that also competes against USHL teams.

     On Wednesday, November 27th, the Youngstown Phantoms defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 5-4.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Wednesday night's game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USHL action in Plymouth.

USA 5-3 Youngstown

 


On Thursday, February 1st, the USA NTDP U-18 Team defeated the Youngstown Phantoms 5-3.




     On Thursday, February 1st, the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-18 Team defeated the Youngstown Phantoms 5-3.  Both teams compete in the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Thursday night's game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of Thursday's USHL game in Plymouth. 

     The Youngstown Phantoms are currently in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 49 points, and an overall record of 22-11-4-1 (4 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss).  The Phantoms roster currently features five players from the state of Michigan including Goaltender #73 Owen Bartoszkiewicz (Northville), Defenseman #13 Luke Osburn (Plymouth), Forward #58 Adam Pietila (Howell), Forward #39 Brecken Smith (Jackson), and Defenseman #18 Jack Wilson (Northville).  

     Team USA is currently in 8th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 28 points, and an overall record of 13-22-1-1 (1 overtime loss, and 1 shootout loss).  The USA NTDP U-18 Team roster currently features three players from the state of Michigan including Forward #9 Austin Baker (White Lake), Defenseman #7 Dakoda Rheaume-Mullen (Northville), and Forward #19 Lucas Van Vliet (Livonia).

Fargo 3-2 USA - SO

     On Saturday, November 18th, the Fargo Force defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 3-2 in a shootout.  Both teams compete in the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Saturday night's game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of Saturday's USHL hockey game in Plymouth.  

      The Fargo Force are currently in 1st place in the USHL Western Conference standings with 29 points, and an overall record of 14-2-1-0 (1 overtime loss).  Team USA is currently in 7th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 13 points, and an overall record of 6-8-0-1 (1 shootout loss). 

     The USA NTDP U-17 Team roster currently features two players from the state of Michigan including Forward #44 Will Horcoff (Bloomfield Hills), and Goaltender #35 Joey Slavick (Westland).  The Fargo Force roster also features two players from the state of Michigan including Forward #17 Reid Daavettila (Fowlerville), and Forward #20 Iiro Hakkarainen (Battle Creek).

Newsy Lalonde

 



     Derek Lalonde is currently in his first year as Head Coach of the Detroit Red Wings.  His nickname "Newsy" comes from former NHL (National Hockey League) star Newsy Lalonde.  Newsy played for the Montreal Canadians from 1917-1922, and then for the New York Americans from 1926-1927.  Newsy Lalonde was also a professional lacrosse player.  Newsy Lalonde's real name is Edouard Cyrille Lalonde.  He got the nickname "Newsy" after working for various newspapers as a youngster.  Newsy Lalonde was born in Cornwall, Ontario.

     Derek Lalonde got his first head coaching job in the USHL (United States Hockey League) for the Green Bay Gamblers from 2011-2014.  Lalonde was also a Head Coach in the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) for the Toledo Walleye from 2014-2016.  Derek Lalonde then went on to be a Head Coach in the AHL (American Hockey League) for the Iowa Wild from 2016-2018.  Lalonde served as an Assistant Coach in the NHL for the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2018-2022 before coming to Detroit.  Derek Lalonde is from Brasher Falls, New York. 

     The Detroit Red Wings are currently in 12th place in the NHL Eastern Conference standings with 64 points, and an overall record of 28-24-8 (8 overtime or shootout losses).  Detroit is scheduled to play their next game tomorrow night (at 7:00 p.m.) at home against the Seattle Kraken.  The Red Wings are currently riding a three-game losing streak.

Chicago 5-4 USA - SO

     On Friday, December 9th, the Chicago Steel defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-18 Team 5-4 in a shootout.  Both teams compete in the USHL (United States Hockey League) Eastern Conference.  Last night's game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs from last night's hockey game. 

     The Chicago Steel are currently in 1st place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 32 points, and an overall record of 15-5-1-1 (1 overtime loss, and 1 shootout loss).  Team USA is currently in 2nd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 25 points, and an overall record of 11-5-1-2 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses). 

     Chicago Steel Forward #13 Jack Harvey currently leads the USHL in goals, and in points.  Harvey has accumulated 18 goals, 16 assists, and 34 points in 22 games played this season.  Chicago Steel Forward #18 Jayden Perron has produced 12 goals, 15 assists, and 27 points in 22 games played this season.  Chicago Steel Forward #26 Michael Emerson has 12 goals, 13 assists, and 25 points in 21 games played this season.

       The USA NTDP U-18 Team roster currently includes three players from the state of Michigan including Goaltender #1 Trey Augustine (South Lyon), Defenseman #26 Kai Janviriya (Bloomfield Hills), and Defenseman #8 Zach Schulz (South Lyon).  The Chicago Steel roster currently doesn't have any players from the state of Michigan.

Cedar Rapids 8-2 USA



On Saturday, November 19th, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defeated the USA NTDP U-17 Team 8-2.





     On Saturday, November 19th, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 8-2.  The USA NTDP U-17 Team earned a 4-3 victory over the RoughRiders on Friday night.  Both games were played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of last night's game.  

     Team USA is currently in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 17 points, and an overall record of 8-3-0-1 (1 shootout loss).  The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are currently in 6th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 16 points, and an overall record of 7-6-2-0 (2 overtime losses).  

     On a side note, a fan sitting at center ice was accidentally hit by a puck during last night's contest.  This is a reminder for fans to be aware that objects like pucks, or hockey sticks can quickly make their way into the stands.  It is important to keep your eyes on the action at all times.  This advice is true at most sporting events.

USHL News: April 2022



The USA NTDP did not qualify for the 2022 USHL Playoffs.





     The Muskegon Lumberjacks will face the Dubuque Fighting Saints on the road this Friday in Game 1 of the 2022 USHL (United States Hockey League) Eastern Conference Semifinals.  The Lumberjacks swept the Cedar Rapids Roughriders 2-0 (in a best of three game series) in the first round of the 2022 USHL Playoffs.  The Dubuque Fighting Saints earned a bye in the first round of the 2022 USHL Playoffs.  

     The Dubuque Fighting Saints finished the 2021-2022 USHL regular season in 2nd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 86 points, and an overall record of 40-16-3-3 (3 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses).  The Muskegon Lumberjacks finished the 2021-2022 USHL regular season in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 72 points, and an overall record of 33-23-3-3 (3 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses).  

     The Chicago Steel finished the 2021-2022 USHL regular season in 1st place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 88 points and an overall record of 39-13-9-1 (9 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss).  The USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) failed to qualify for the 2022 USHL Playoffs.  Team USA finished the 2021-2022 USHL regular season in 7th place in the 2021-2022 USHL Eastern Conference standings with 60 points, and an overall record of 27-29-5-1 (5 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss). 

     The Tri-City Storm finished the 2021-2022 USHL regular season in 1st place in the USHL Western Conference standings with 98 points, and an overall record of 47-11-3-1 (3 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss).  The Storm will host the Omaha Lancers on Saturday in Game 1 of the USHL Western Conference Semifinals.  The Sioux City Musketeers will also host the Waterloo Black Hawks on Saturday in Game 1 of the USHL Western Conference Semifinals.  

     Tri-City Storm Forward #13 Jeremy Wilmer lead the USHL this season in points, and in assists.  Wilmer accumulated 25 goals, 73 assists, and 98 points in 60 games played this season.  Tri-City Storm Defenseman #41 Mitchell Miller, and Sioux City Musketeers Forward #27 Ben Steeves both lead the USHL this season in goals.  Miller compiled 39 goals, 44 assists, and 83 points in 60 games played this season.  Steeves produced 39 goals, 28 assists, and 67 points in 60 games played this season. 

     Muskegon Lumberjacks Forward #28 Quinn Hutson lead the team this season in goals, and in points.  Hutson accumulated 33 goals, 40 assists, and 73 points in 59 games played this season.  Team USA Forward #3 Isaac Howard lead the team in points this season against USHL competition.  Howard compiled 11 goals, 26 assists, and 37 points in 27 games played this season.  Team USA Forward #19 Cutter Gauthier lead the team in goals this season against USHL competition.  Gauthier produced 19 goals, 9 assists, and 28 points in 22 games played this season.

Lumberjacks News: March 2022

 



      The Muskegon Lumberjacks are currently in 3rd place in the USHL (United States Hockey League) Eastern Conference standings with 56 points, and an overall record of 25-15-3-3 (3 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses).  The Chicago Steel are currently in 2nd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 62 points, and the Dubuque Fighting Saints are currently in 1st place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 63 points.  There are 16 teams competing in the 2021-2022 USHL season.  Each team is scheduled to play 62 regular season games this season.  

     Lumberjacks Forward #28 Quinn Hutson is currently (tied for) 3rd in the USHL in goals with 26, and (tied for) 5th in the USHL in points with 58.  Hutson has also accumulated 32 assists in 44 games played this season.  Lumberjacks Forward #7 Phillip Tresca has accumulated 25 goals, 21 assists, and 46 points in 46 games played this season.  Lumberjacks Forward #12 Ben Strinden has accumulated 21 goals, 25 assists, and 46 points in 46 games played this season.  Lumberjacks Forward #9 Joey Larson has accumulated 24 goals, 21 assists, and 45 points in 46 games played this season.  

     The Muskegon Lumberjacks roster features five players from the state of Michigan including Forward #25 Bennett Barnes (Northville), Defenseman #3 Tyler Dunbar (Sault Ste. Marie), Goaltender #29 Cameron Korpi (South Lyon), Forward #9 Joey Larson (Brighton), and Forward #24 Landon MacDonald (Brighton).  The Lumberjacks play their home games at Mercy Health Arena located at 470 W. Western Ave, in Muskegon.

USA 6-1 Augsburg

     On Wednesday, December 29th, the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-18 Team defeated the Augsburg University Auggies (Minnesota) 6-1.  USA NTDP Forward #19 Cutter Gauthier lead Team USA with 3 goals, and an assist.  The game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth.  Saturday's exhibition was part of the Kroger College Series.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs. 

     The USA NTDP competes in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Team USA is currently in 8th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 15 points, and an overall record of 6-12-3 (3 overtime losses).  Augsburg University is a NCAA Division III program, and the Auggies compete in the MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).  The Augsburg University Men's hockey team currently has an overall record of 9-2.
