30 Games Under .500

The Detroit Tigers finished the 2022 MLB regular season 30 games under .500.

The Detroit Tigers finished the 2022 MLB (Major League Baseball) regular season in 4th place in the AL Central standings with an overall record of 66-96.  It was a disappointing season for the Tigers on offense, and the pitching staff was battered with injuries throughout much of the season.  The Tigers were once again sellers at the trading deadline sending Pitcher Michael Fulmer to the Minnesota Twins, and dealing Outfielder Robbie Grossman to the Atlanta Braves.  The Tigers recently fired General Manager Al Avila, Hitting Coach Scott Coolbaugh, and longtime Scouting Director Scott Pleis.

Tigers Third Baseman #46 Jeimer Candelario batted .217 with 13 home runs, and 50 RBI in 131 games played this season.  Tigers Second Baseman #7 Jonathon Schoop batted .202 with 11 home runs, and 38 RBI in 112 games played this season.  Tigers First Baseman #20 Spencer Torkelson batted .203 with 8 home runs, and 28 RBI in 110 games played this season.  Tigers Catcher #15 Tucker Barnhart batted .221 with 1 home run, and 16 RBI in 94 games played this season.  Tigers Outfielder #60 Akil Baddoo batted .204 with 2 home runs, and 9 RBI in 73 games played this season.

Tigers Pitcher #56 Spencer Turnbull was unavailable to pitch in 2022 due to injury, and #12 Casey Mize only pitched 2 games for the Tigers this season.  Several other starting pitchers missed significant time this season due to injuries including #25 Matt Manning, #57 Eduardo Rodriguez, and #29 Tarik Skubal.  The Tigers also released (Starter/Reliever) Pitcher Wily Peralta in late August, and Starting Pitcher Michael Pineda was released in early September.  Peralta, and Pineda also spent significant time on the injured list this season.
