EMU Hockey in Taylor





Last Sunday, Eastern Michigan University (in gray) defeated Slippery Rock University (in black) 8-3.











     The Eastern Michigan University hockey team competes in Division I of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association), and the Eagles play all of their home games at the Taylor Sportsplex.  EMU competes in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) along with six other local schools.  The Eagles are currently in 7th place in the GLCHL standings with 8 points and an overall record of 4-11.  EMU is currently ranked 46th in the Country according to the ACHA Division  I Poll.  Click on past months to see exclusive photos from several Eastern Michigan University hockey games.  Scroll down to see photos from last Sunday's ACHA showdown..

Concordia Football





#11 Blake Hilsabeck celebrates a Concordia Cardinals touchdown!  #19 Cory Turner made the reception!









     When most people think about college football in the city of Ann Arbor, they almost automatically think about the University of Michigan.  There's another college football team that plays on the outskirts of "The Deuce" known as the Concordia Cardinals.  Concordia University is located on 4090 Geddes Road (just west of US 23), and the Cardinals football team competes in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).
     Last Saturday, the Concordia Cardinals lost to the University of Saint Francis (Indiana) Cougars 30-14. Both teams are conference rivals in the MSFA (Mid-States Football Association), and both schools compete in the Mideast League.  #5 Antoin Campbell lead the Cougars rushing attack with 105 yards on 17 carries.  #7 Tyler Steele lead the Cardinals offense, throwing for 180 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and completing 20-37 of his passing attempts.
     Concordia University is currently in 7th place in the Mideast League standings with a 3-7 overall record.  The Cardinals will finish up their regular season schedule next Saturday afternoon against Robert Morris University. #7 Tyler Steele completed 20-37 of his passing attempts, threw for 180 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.





The Cardinals found the end zone twice against the Cougars.  






The Cardinals made a goal line stand!

UofM-D 5- Adrian 4 in OT





Last night, the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines (in white) defeated the Adrian Bulldogs 5 - 4 in overtime.











     The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team came into last night's contest riding a 7 game loosing streak, and the Wolverines were looking to stop the bleeding.  They welcomed in the #2 ranked team in the Nation, according to the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) Division I Poll.  The #2 Adrian Bulldogs had already posted three victories over the Wolverines this season.
     The score was tied at 3 last night late in the contest, and it appeared that the game was headed for overtime.  Adrian scored with 3:16 left in regulation, and the Bulldogs held a 4-3 lead in the late stages of the game.  The Wolverines tied the score with :59 seconds left on the clock, and the game went into overtime.
     The Wolverines scored with 2:52 left in OT, and celebrated the 5-4 victory.  The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey club is currently ranked #21 in the Nation, according to the ACHA Division I Poll.  Scroll down to see exclusive photos from last night's ACHA overtime thriller!

The Adrian Bulldogs came into last night's contest undefeated, and ranked #2 in the Nation, according to the ACHA Poll.





University of Michigan Dearborn ended a 7 game loosing streak last night with a 5-4 overtime victory.






The Wolverines are currently ranked #21 in the Nation according to the ACHA Division I Poll. 
 



Both hockey clubs compete in Division I of the ACHA.  Both teams also compete in the GLCHL Conference.





Adrian College also fields 2 ACHA Division III hockey teams, and one NCAA Division III hockey club.

Alpena 8 - Detroit 5





On Sunday, the Alpena Flyers celebrated an 8-5 victory over the Detroit Fighting Irish.









     On Sunday afternoon, the Alpena Flyers earned a 8-5 road win at the Ice Box in Brownstown.  The Detroit Fighting Irish are playing all of their home games at the Ice Box this season, and the Fighting Irish are currently in 3rd place in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League) with 10 points, and an overall record of 5-3.

Lady Ocelots Improve To 10-1-1





On Saturday, the Schoolcraft College women's soccer team (in white) defeated Lake Michigan College 5-4. 










     On Saturday afternoon, the Schoolcraft College women's soccer team defeated the Lake Michigan Red Hawks 5-4.  The score was tied at 4 late in the game, but the Ocelots scored with 3:16 left in the contest. Schoolcraft is currently ranked 15th in the Country, and the lady Ocelots have compiled an impressive 10-1-1 overall record.  The lady Red Hawks have an overall record of 5-9-1.
     Lake Michigan College, and Schoolcraft College both compete in the MCCAA (Michigan Community College Athletic Association).  The MCCAA is a Region XII Division of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association).  Click on the links below for more information about the MCCAA, or the NJCAA,

Ocelots Win 4-3 in 2 OT





On Saturday afternoon, Schoolcraft College (in yellow) defeated Lake Michigan College 4-3 in double overtime.








     On Saturday afternoon, the Schoolcraft College soccer team defeated the Lake Michigan College Red Hawks 4-3 in double overtime.  Schoolcraft has compiled an impressive 15-2 overall record, and the Ocelots are currently ranked 9th in the Nation.  The Lake Michigan Red Hawks currently have an overall record of 9-10-1.
     The Ocelots, and Red Hawks both compete in the MCCAA (Michigan Community College Athletic Association).  The MCCAA is a Region XII Division of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association).

Hounds 4 - Ice Dogs 1





On Friday night, the Traverse City Hounds (in white) defeated the Michigan Ice Dogs 4-1.










     The Traverse City Hounds brought their undefeated record into the Farmington Hills Ice Arena on Friday night, and left with a 4-1 victory.  The Hounds also picked up a 5-2 win on Saturday evening over the Ice Dogs. The Traverse City Hounds, and the Michigan Ice Dogs both compete against each other in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League).  The Michigan Ice Dogs play all of their home games at the Farmington Ice Arena located at 35500 8 Mile Road.
