Beavers Win Title

 


The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers won the 2022 USPBL Championship.




     On Sunday, September 11th, the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers defeated the Utica Unicorns 8-6 to win the 2022 USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) Championship.  Beavers Catcher #16 Felix Aberouette was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Championship Game.  Aberouette went 4-5 with 3 home runs, and 5 RBI (runs batted in).  

     The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers also defeated the Westside Woolly Mammoths 18-5 in the 2022 USPBL Semifinals.  The Beavers finished the 2022 USPBL regular season with the second-best overall record at 22-22.  The Utica Unicorns finished the 2022 USPBL regular season with the best overall record at 28-16.

-  The Westside Woolly Mammoths defeated the Eastside Diamond Hoppers 6-4 in the 1st round of the 2022 USPBL Playoffs.   


-  Beavers Pitcher #6 James Krick earned the win in the Championship Game.  


-  Beavers Pitcher #35 Nick Shaw picked up the save in the Championship Game.  Nick Shaw is from Coldwater, Michigan. 


-  The Beavers also won the USPBL Championship in 2017, and in 2018.


-  The Utica Unicorns won the USPBL Championship in 2016, 2019, 2020, and in 2021. 


-  The USPBL plays their games at Jimmy John's Field located at 7171 Auburn Road, in Utica.

V8's News: September




     The Motor City V8's are competing in their first season in the SFL (Simulation Football League).  The Motor City V8's are currently in 4th place in the SFL North Division standings with an overall record of 2-6.  The V8's are currently riding a five-game losing streak. 

     There are 28 teams competing in the SFL 19th Season.  Live, and archived SFL games can be seen on the Simulationfl YouTube channel.  The Motor City V8's play their home games at Bank Michigan Stadium located in a simulated downtown Detroit. 

     Motor City Quarterback #15 Ibrahim Krieta has currently completed 270 of 392 passing attempts for 2,323 yards, and 10 touchdowns.  Krieta has also thrown 23 interceptions and has been sacked 31 times in 8 games played.  V8's Kicker #17 Caleb Richards has made all twelve of his field goal attempts this season.

     The Motor City V8's will play their next game on the road against the Portland Fleet on Saturday, September 17th.  The V8's will be on the road against the Seattle Nemisis on Saturday, September 24th.  The V8's return home on Friday, September 30th to host the Vancouver Legion.  The V8's finish the regular season at home on Sunday, October 9th against the London Knights.

STIHL Timbersports On CBSSN

 



     Live, and archived 2022 STIHL Timbersports Series events can be seen on CBSSN (CBS Sports Network).  The next STIHL Timbersports Series broadcast on CBSSN is scheduled for tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m.  The six disciplines featured in the 2022 STIHL Timbersports Series include Hot Saw, Single Buck, Springboard, Standing Block Chop, Stock Saw, and Underhand Chop.  The STIHL Timbersports Series was founded in 1985.

-  Emil Hansson won the STIHL Timbersports 2022 European Trophy in France.  Emil Hansson is from Sweden.


-  Marcel Dupuis won the STIHL Timbersports 2022 Canadian Championship in Prince Edward Island.  Marcel Dupuis is from New Brunswick, Canada.


-  Jason Lentz won the STIHL Timbersports 2021 Individual World Championship in Germany.  Jason Lentz is from the United States.

MHSAA Sports On YouTube

 



     The MHSAA Sports YouTube channel currently features 1,022 videos for fans of High School sports in the state of Michigan.  The MHSAA Sports Youtube channel features highlights, and full archived games.  Some of the videos on the MHSAA Sports YouTube channel include "1998 Class AA Final - Detroit Catholic Central vs Rockford", "1998 Class CC Final - Montrose vs Whittemore Prescott", and "1988 Class B Final - Grand Rapids South Christian v. Redford Bishop Borgess".  The MHSAA Sports YouTube channel currently has over 3,500 subscribers.

Beavers vs. Unicorns

     On Saturday, September 3rd, the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers played the Utica Unicorns in a doubleheader at Jimmy John's Field in Utica.  The Unicorns defeated the Beavers 4-4 in a "Sudden Death" format in the first game of the doubleheader.  The Beavers beat the Unicorns 4-2 in the second game of the doubleheader.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) action in Utica. 

     The Utica Unicorns finished the 2022 USPBL regular season in 1st place in the East Division standings with an overall record of 28-16.  The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers finished the 2022 USPBL regular season in 1st place in the West Division standings with an overall record of 22-22.  Championship Weekend runs from September 9th - September 11th.

VFW Post 345 News

 


The property located at 27345 Schoolcraft Road is currently for sale.




     There haven't been any weekly Classic Car Shows this year at the Hubert-Fortiers-O'Grady VFW Post 345 in Redford.  The property located at 27345 Schoolcraft Road is currently listed for sale on the Berkshire Hathaway website.  The weekly Classic Car Show at the Hubert-Fortiers-O'Grady VFW Post 345 was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and in 2021.  

     The Hubert-Fortiers-O'Grady VFW Post 345 recently posted on their Facebook Page that they have a new location at 26049 Five Mile Road, in Redford.  The property is small, so the future of the weekly Classic Car Show is unclear.
