UofM-D 9-1 Rochester

     On Friday, January 26th, the University of Michigan Dearborn Men's hockey team defeated the Rochester University Warriors 9-1 at home.  The Wolverines also earned a 6-1 victory on the road against the Warriors on Saturday afternoon.  Both schools are members of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association), and both teams compete in the WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference).  

     The University of Michigan Dearborn Men's hockey team is currently in 2nd place in the WHAC standings with a conference record of 15-5, and an overall record of 19-7.  The Rochester University Men's hockey team is currently in 7th place in the WHAC standings with a conference record of 0-20, and an overall record of 0-24.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs from Friday's college hockey game in Dearborn.

Gamblers 2-1 MJDP

     On Wednesday, January 24th, the Motor City Gamblers defeated the MJDP (Metro Jets Development Program) 2-1 in a shootout.  Both teams compete in the Premier Division of the USPHL (United States Premier Hockey League).  Wednesday's game was played at Big Boy Arena located at 34400 Utica Road, in Fraser, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USPHL action.

      MJDP Defenseman #4 Josh Boze scored the first goal of the game midway into the 2nd period.  Motor City Gamblers Center #71 Preston Stenzel tied the game about four minutes later.  Gamblers Center #8 Shaun Zatelli scored the game winning goal in the shootout.  The Motor City Gamblers outshot the Metro Jets Development Program 29-25.  

     MJDP is currently in 1st place in the USPHL Midwest East Division standings with 50 points, and an overall record of 23-5-0-4 (0 overtime losses, and 4 shootout losses).  The Motor City Gamblers are currently in 4th place in the USPHL Midwest East Division standings with 35 points, and an overall record of 16-14-1-2 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses).

Rodman At USC

 



     #10 DJ Rodman is currently playing Forward for the USC (University of Southern California) Trojans.  Rodman is currently averaging 7.3 points per game, and 4.7 rebounds per game in 18 games played this season.  DJ Rodman played for the Washington State University Cougars from 2019-2023.  DJ Rodman was born in California. 

     The USC Trojans are currently in 11th place in the Pac-12 Conference standings with a conference record of 2-6, and an overall record of 8-11.  The Trojans roster also includes Guard #1 Isaiah Collier, Guard #5 Boogie Ellis, Guard #6 Bronny James, and Guard #0 Kobe Johnson.  Bronny James's father is Los Angeles Lakers Forward #23 Lebron James. 

     DJ Rodman's father is former Detroit Pistons Forward #10 Dennis Rodman.  DJ Rodman's sister Trinity Rodman is a professional soccer player in the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League) for the Washington Spirit.  Trinity Rodman also plays for the USWNT (United States Women's National Soccer Team).

Walton Jr. In CBA

 



     #2 Derrick Walton Jr. is currently playing Point Guard in the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) for the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions.  Derrick Walton Jr. played college basketball at the University of Michigan from 2013-2017.  Walton Jr. also played for the Motor City Cruise during the 2021-2022 season.  Walton Jr. went undrafted in the 2017 NBA (National Basketball Association) Draft.  Derrick Walton Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan.  

     The Zhejiang Guangsha Lions are currently in 4th place in the CBA standings with an overall record of 24-10.  The Liaoning Flying Leopards are currently in 1st place in the CBA standings with an overall record of 28-5.  There are 20 teams competing in the 2023-2024 CBA season.

Hauser In Ontario

 



     #10 Joey Hauser is currently playing Forward in the NBA G League for the Ontario Clippers (California).  Joey Hauser played college basketball at Michigan State University from 2020-2023.  Hauser also played at Marquette University during the 2018-2019 season.  Joey Hauser went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft.  Joey Hauser was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 

     The Ontario Clippers are currently in 13th place in the NBA G League Western Conference standings with an overall record of 3-7.  Joey Hauser is currently averaging 7.1 points per game, and 5.6 rebounds per game in 10 games played this season.  Hauser averaged 14.4 points per game last season in his final year at Michigan State University.

Pontiac Pharaohs News

 



     The Pontiac Pharaohs are a new professional basketball team competing in the 2024 TBL (The Basketball League) season.  The Pharaohs will play their home games at Pontiac High School located at 1051 Arlene Avenue, in Pontiac.  The Pontiac Pharaohs were previously known as the Lansing Pharaohs in 2022, and the team did not compete in the 2023 season.  The Pontiac Pharaohs are scheduled to play their first home game against the Medora Timberjacks on Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m.    

     Some of the players that have recently tried out for the Pontiac Pharaohs include Forward Kavon Bey (Montana State University-Northern), Guard Mike Bruce (Lourdes University), Guard Dwight Burton (Madonna University), Forward Kahlil Gracey (Rochester University), Guard Andre Johnson (Rochester University), Guard Derrick Johnson (Olivet College), Center Jordan Moses (Jackson College), Center Jay Schumpert (Grace Christian College), Forward Jalen Sykes (St. Clair College), Forward Trent Temple (Great Lakes Christian College), Guard James Towns (Niagara University), and Forward Jason Watts (Lambton College).

     The Pontiac Pharaohs are also scheduled to compete against BSL (Basketball Super League) teams.  The Pharaohs lost a road game to the KW (Kitchener Waterloo) Titans 119-105 on Sunday, January 7th.  The Pharaohs also lost on the road against the Sudbury Five 131-121 on Saturday, January 13th.  There are six teams competing in the 2024 BSL season.

Pictures of 2023

 


We attended a Motor City Rockers game. The Rockers compete in the FPHL.





The Rockers play their home games at Big Boy Arena located at 34400 Utica Road, in Fraser.



We checked out college hockey games in January, and in February.



The UofM-D hockey team was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report five times in 2023.



We went to the 2023 Plymouth Ice Festival in February.



The Plymouth Ice Festival has been featured on the Mitten State Sports Report every year since 2014.



We checked out college baseball games in the Spring.  This game was played at Concordia University. 



Eastern Michigan University lost a close game against Ball State University.  The final score was 2-1. 



The Eagles outlasted the Toledo Rockets 12-11 in a game played in late April.



We watched Livonia City FC in June.  LCFC defeated Michigan Stars FC Semi Pro 2-1.



We saw Oakland County FC earn a 4-3 victory at home against Kalamazoo FC.





We went to Motor Muster 2023.



Motor Muster 2023 featured hundreds of vehicles from the 1930's through the 1970's.





Vintage Base Ball at Greenfield Village.  



The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 in a preseason game.



The USA NTDP was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report in November.
