Woodward Sports On YouTube

 



     The Woodward Sports YouTube channel currently has over 7,000 videos for fans of our local sports teams.  Some of the programs on the Woodward Sports YouTube channel include "Wake Up Woodward", "Big D Energy", "Ermanni & Edwards with Maz", and "Woodward Heavyweights".  The Woodward Sports YouTube channel currently has over 63,000 subscribers.

      Live episodes of "Ermanni & Edwards with Maz" can be listened to on weekdays from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.  The show features FOX 2 Detroit personality Ryan Ermanni, and former NFL (National Football League) Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards.  Edwards played college football at the University of Michigan from 2001-2004.  The Cleveland Browns selected Braylon Edwards with the 3rd overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

-  The Woodward Sports YouTube channel has currently received over 34 million views.

Grand Rapids Rise News

 



     The Grand Rapids Rise are a professional women's indoor volleyball team competing in the inaugural season of the PVF (Pro Volleyball Federation).  There are seven teams competing in the 2024 PVF season including the Atlanta Vibe, the Columbus Fury, the Grand Rapids Rise, the Omaha Supernovas, the Orlando Valkyries, the San Diego Mojo, and the Vegas Thrill. 

     The Grand Rapids Rise are currently in 3rd place in the PVF standings with an overall record of 6-6.  The Grand Rapids Rise play their home games at Van Andel Arena located at 130 Fulton Street W, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.  Cathy George is the Head Coach of the Grand Rapids Rise.  Cathy George was the Head Coach of the Michigan State University women's volleyball team from 2005-2021.  

     Some of the players on the Grand Rapids Rise roster include Middle Blocker #1 Sydney Bolding, Middle Blocker #28 Kayla Caffey, Outside Hitter #9 Claire Chaussee, Middle Blocker #7 Nia Grant, Middle Blocker #17 Alyssa Jenson, Setter #15 Mac Podraza, Outside Hitter #10 Shannon Scully, and Setter #12 Sarah Sponcil.  Alyssa Jenson played college volleyball at Michigan State University from 2014-2017.

-  The Grand Rapids Rise roster also includes Outside Hitter #27 Symone Abbott, Outside Hitter #14 Emiliya Dimitrova, Setter #13 Ashley Evans, Opposite Hitter #4 Morgahn Fingall, Middle Blocker #8 Marin Grote, Libero #31 Camila Gomez, and Outside Hitter #5 Erika Pritchard.


-  The Atlanta Vibe are currently in 1st place in the PVF standings with an overall record of 11-4.


-  The Omaha Supernovas are currently in 2nd place in the PVF standings with an overall record of 10-4. 


-  Jen Spicher is the Commissioner of the Pro Volleyball Federation.
