Thursday Night Baseball!

The Tribe (in white) battled the Astros (in red) on Thursday night in Redford!

The Tribe met up with the Astros last night, under the lights at Handy Park in Redford.  Both teams compete in a 55 and over, wood bat, hardball league.  The talent level, and ability of most of the players was at a high level, and I had no idea that the age group was 55 and over, until I talked to a member of the Tribe coaching staff.  The Tribe starting pitcher (#21) was throwing smoke, and the Astros hitters looked uncomfortable, and confused at the dish.  The Tribe were able to score a couple of runs early, and added eight runs during a fifth inning onslaught.  The Tribe defeated the Astros by a final score of 11-0.
Handy Park is located on Capitol Avenue, west of Beach Daly, in Redford.  Formerly known as Capitol Park, Handy Park offers fields and courts for baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, and roller-hockey.  Handy Park also features trails for walking, or jogging, and shares a parking lot with the Redford Township Community Center.  There is also a skate park, and a splash pad for the kids, but for the most part, Handy Park is usually quiet, and is less frequently visited then other parks in the area.  For more information about upcoming events at Handy Park click on the link below.
