The Michigan Ice Dogs will now be known as the Michigan Wild for the 2015-2016 season. The Ice Dogs have played the past three seasons in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League), but the MWJHL has merged with the USPHL (United States Premier Hockey League) to form a new Midwest Division. The MWJHL only featured 7 teams during the 2014-2015 season, but the new USPHL Midwest Division will include 18 teams. The Wild will compete in the Eastern Conference with former MWJHL foes like the Alpena Flyers, and the Detroit Fighting Irish, but new opponents such as the Indiana Attack, and the Kalkaska Rhinos will now appear on the Michigan Wild schedule.
