Former Detroit Tigers Third Baseman, and Catcher Brandon Inge will join the University of Michigan baseball coaching staff as a volunteer coach for the 2021 season. Inge played for the Detroit Tigers from 2001-2012. Inge was selected to the 2009 MLB (Major League Baseball) All-Star Game, and Inge even participated in the 2009 Home Run Derby.

- Brandon Inge was born in Lynchburg, Virginia.
- Brandon Inge also played for the Oakland Athletics, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
- Former University of Michigan Pitching Coach Chris Fetter was recently hired as the Pitching Coach for the Detroit Tigers. Fetter was also a Pitcher for the Wolverines.
- The Wolverines lost to Vanderbilt University in the 2019 College World Series Championship.
- The University of Michigan baseball team finished the 2020 season with an overall record of 8-7. Most of the 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic.
- Mitten State Sports Report posted "UofM Baseball Ranked #1" on 2/23/2020.
- The University of Michigan baseball team was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
