Football: USFL News

 



     The reboot of the USFL (United States Football League) is set to kick off in April of 2022, and games will be televised on FS1 (Fox Sports 1).  The USFL relaunch will feature eight teams, and two divisions.  The North Division will include the Michigan Panthers, the New Jersey Generals, the Philadelphia Stars, and the Pittsburgh Maulers.  The South Division will include the Birmingham Stallions, the Houston Gamblers, the New Orleans Breakers, and the Tampa Bay Bandits.  All eight franchises competed in the original USFL that ran from 1983-1985.  The Michigan Panthers won the 1983 USFL Championship.

-  Former NFL Quarterback Doug Flutie, former NFL Defensive Lineman Reggie White, and former NFL Quarterback Steve Young also played in the USFL.

Futsal World Cup On FS1

 



     The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup Final can be seen live on FS1 on Sunday, October 3rd, at 1:00 p.m.  Argentina will face the winner of today's semifinal match between Portugal, and Kazakhstan.  Today's semifinal can be seen live on FS2 at 1:00 p.m.  The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup is being played in Lithuania.  The United States finished the 2021 FIFA World Cup with an 0-3 record.  The United States lost group matches to Argentina 11-0, Iran 4-2, and Serbia 7-0.

-  The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup was originally scheduled for 2020. 


-  The FIFA Futsal World Cup is played every four years.  


-  Brazil will face the loser of today's semifinal in the 3rd place game.  


-  The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup featured 6 groups, and 24 teams. 


-  Angola, Morocco, and Solomon Islands also competed in the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup. 


-  Costa Rica, Egypt, and Uzbekistan also competed in the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

PBA Played







     On Sunday, March 15th, Jason Belmonte defeated Anthony Simonsen 213-190 to win his 3rd consecutive PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) World Championship Title.  The WSOB (World Series of Bowling) PBA World Championship was broadcast live on FS1 in front of a limited crowd that did not include fans.  Future PBA events have already been postponed.

Big 3 On FS1






     The Big 3 Professional Basketball League debuts tonight on FS1 (Fox Sports One).  The Big 3 League was founded by Ice Cube, and features former NBA (National Basketball Association) All-Stars such as "Mr. Big Shot" Chauncey Billups, Allen Iverson, Kenyon Martin, Mike Bibby, and Jermaine O'Neal.  The Big 3 League is an indoor, half court 3 on 3 style tournament featuring 8 teams for the 2017 season.
     There are no uniforms, or foul outs in the Big 3 League.  Teams have unique names like Ball Hogs, Killer 3s, and 3's Company.  Some of the coaches in the Big 3 League include Clyde Drexler, Gary Payton, and Julius "Dr. J." 5 Years of Flat Rock Speedway





ARCA Racing at Flat Rock Speedway was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
