Grant On Team USA




     Detroit Pistons Forward #9 Jerami Grant is representing Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.  Grant averaged 22.3 points per game last year in his first season with the Detroit Pistons.  Jerami Grant is the son of former NBA (National Basketball Association) player Harvey Grant.  Former NBA star Horace Grant is the twin brother of Harvey Grant.  

     The expectations were high for USA Basketball going into training camp on July 6th, but Team USA suffered two early exhibition losses to Nigeria 90-87, and Australia 91-83.  Team USA recovered with two exhibition wins over Argentina 108-80, and Spain 83-76.  USA Basketball has been placed in Group A with three other countries including Czech Republic, France, and Iran.  Team USA will open up Olympic competition against France on Sunday, July 25th.

-  Jerami Grant was born in Portland, Oregon.


-  Jerami Grant played college basketball at Syracuse University. 


-  Jerami Grant was selected by the Philadelphia 76'ers with the 39th overall pick (2nd round) of the 2014 NBA Draft.


-  The USA Basketball roster also features San Antonio Spurs Forward Keldon Johnson, Chicago Bulls Guard Zach LaVine, and Denver Nuggets Center JaVale McGee.  


-  JaVale McGee was born in Flint, Michigan.  McGee played part of his High School basketball career at Detroit Country Day.  JaVale McGee is listed at 7'0.
