Weekend In A Nutshell III

-  MMA returns to Taylor this Saturday (May 12th) at the Taylor Sportsplex when Triple X Cagefighting presents Taylor Invasion.  Doors open at 6:00, fights start at 7:00.  15 fights are scheduled and general admission is $25.  The Taylor Sportsplex is located at 13333 Telegraph in Taylor.  For ticket info check out  http://www.neptix.com/



-  MMA returns to Jackson this Saturday (May12th) when Ground and Pound Promotions along with Rock Boss Entertainment presents The Mile To Death Row.  Doors open at 6:00, and fights start at 7:00 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds which is located at 200 West Ganson Street in Jackson.



-  MMA returns to Iron Mountain this Saturday (May 12th) for Lights Out Fights 1.  16 fights are scheduled, general admission is $30, and fights start at 6:00. (doors open at 5:00)  Catch all the action at the former Goodwill Building located at 8159 US-2 in Iron Mountain.

-  This Saturday (May 12th) Flat Rock Speedway celebrates 50 years of Figure 8's with a 'Racers Reunion' which includes an autograph night, a chance to walk on the track, and an oppurtunity to meet the drivers.  The autogragh session begins at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:00.  For more info check out  http://www.flatrockspeedway.com/  or call (734) 782-2480


-  It's that time of year and the race tracks are open and ready for business.  In Michigan we have 21 asphalt oval tracks, 16 dirt oval tracks, 9 drag strips, and 3 road coarses so find a track near you!

-  The Tigers are 14-13 after winning two out of three games at home this weekend against the Chicago WhiteSox.  The Tigers are currently in second place in the American League Central Division trailing the Cleveland Indians by a game and a half.


-  Doug Fister is scheduled to return tonight for the Tigers to pitch against his former club.(Seatle Mariners)


-  Minor League Baseball - The Lansing Lugnuts (21-8) still lead the Midwest League East Division, while the Great Lakes Loons (16-13) are in fourth place, followed by the West Michigan Whitecaps (14-16) in fifth place.


-  There is an independent pro baseball team in Michigan that is not affiliated with MLB.  The Traverse City Beach Bums play in the 14 team Frontier League and play their home games at Wuerfel Park. (since 2006)



            
                                                                Other News


-  The Detroit Mechanix are an American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) team whichs plays their home games at the Pontiac Silverdome.  Their next home game is this Saturday (May12th) at 7:00 against the Bluegrass Revolution.  There are ten teams in the AUDL and the Mechanix are currently 1-4 and in 4th place in the West Division.  For more info check out  theaudl.com or  detmechanix.com
