Five second period Panther goals were the difference on Friday night when Davenport University defeated the University of Michigan Dearborn 9-3. The Wolverines trailed 2-1 after the first period, but let the game slip away quickly thanks to #20 Travis White's two goals in the second period. White completed the hat trick in the third period, recording goals against two different Wolverine goaltenders in the process. Davenport came into Dearborn on Friday night with an overall record of 4-4, but improved their record to 6-4 with victories over UofM-D on Friday (9-3), and Saturday night (4-2). Saturday nights game was played at the Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids.
The University of Michigan Dearborn dropped to 6-11 overall with a 3-7 record in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League). Davenport is 4-1 in the GLCHL, and is currently ranked 14th in the country in Division 1 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association). The UofM-D hockey club will be on the road next weekend for a two game set at the University of Buffalo. Davenport will be on the road next weekend for a two game set at Kent State University.
