English Out! Batch Film!
Ron English was fired as the head coach of the Eastern Michigan University football team last Friday after going 11-46 during his 57 games at Eastern Michigan. English was in his fifth season as head coach, and the Eagles were 1-8 at the time of his firing. A locker room tirade where profanity was used was a contributing factor in the decision to let English go. Stan Parrish was named as the Eagles interim head coach, and he had only about 18 hours to prepare for a rivalry game against Western Michigan University. The Broncos came into Rynearson Stadium last Saturday with a 1-8 overall record, but Eastern Michigan earned the 35-32 overtime victory over Western Michigan. Parrish is 1-0 as the head coach of the Eagles, and will finish up the season with a home game against Bowling Green on Saturday November 23rd (1:00 p.m.), followed by a season finale road game against Central Michigan on Saturday November 29th.
NFL Films recently released a special entitled "Portraits of Pride" profiling Eastern Michigan Alumni Charlie Batch, and his charity work in the city of Pittsburg. Charlie's "Best of the Batch Foundation" will be the focal point of the film, and it can be seen on the NFL Network on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Check your local listings for replays of the film.
