Former Whalers defenseman #3 Colin MacDonald plays college hockey for the University of Western Ontario! |
Colin MacDonald, and Michael Whaley both played together in the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) for the Plymouth Whalers, and now play college hockey together for the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. The Mustangs are not affiliated with the NCAA (National Collegiate Hockey League), or the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey League), but they have played two exhibition games this season against Universities from the United States. The battle tested Mustangs lost at the Western Michigan University Broncos 5-2 on October 5th, and lost at Michigan State University 4-1 on October 9th. The Western Ontario hockey club will make another stop in Michigan this Monday (December 16th), as part of the "Hockeytown Winter Festival". The University of Western Ontario will face the University of Windsor (at 6:30) at Comerica Park as part of the Winter Festival. Both schools compete in the West Division of the OUA (Ontario University Athletics) Conference along with 8 other schools. The OUA has an East Division with 10 schools from Ontario, bringing the total amount of schools in the Conference to 20. The Western Ontario Mustangs are currently 9-5 overall, but lost to the University of Windsor 5-1 back on November 29th.
Colin MacDonald played 4 seasons with the Plymouth Whalers, and was known as a scrappy, and hard working defenseman.
