Bruins 6 - Ice Dogs 5 in OT





On Saturday night, the Berkley Bruins defeated the Michigan Ice Dogs 6-5 in overtime!








     On Saturday night, the Berkley Bruins defeated the Michigan Ice Dogs 6-5 in overtime.  Both teams compete in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League), and a rivalry has certainly been developing on the ice.  The Bruins were in control of the game early, but they allowed the Ice Dogs to claw their way back into the game.  Berkley had a commanding 4-1 lead in the third period, but the Ice Dogs scored four straight goals to take a 5-4 lead.  #20 Vaughn Clouston scored for the Bruins with just under three minutes left in the third period, and the game was tied at 5.  Extra hockey was needed to decide a winner, and #20 Vaughn Clouston came up big again for the Bruins scoring the game winner with 27 seconds remaining in overtime. #8 Shane Zigman scored two goals for the Bruins, while #18 Tim Muhsman, and #19 Grant McCormack each added a goal.      
     The Berkley Bruins are currently near the bottom of the MWJHL standings, but it is important to note that they have played the least amount of MWJHL games so far this season.  The Bruins have played 22 games, and they are currently in 7th place in the MWJHL standings with 15 points, and a 7-15 overall record.  The Bruins are run, and operated by their General Manager Michael Janish, and Bobby Clouston is their head coach.  #19 Grant McCormack currently leads the Bruins in goals with 20, and #18 Tim Muhsman leads the team in points with 36.  #20 Vaughn Clouston has contributed 15 goals, and 15 assists for the Bruins in only ten games.  The Berkley Bruins play all of their home games at the Berkley Ice Arena located at 2300 Robina Avenue, in Berkley.      
     The Michigan Ice Dogs have played 33 games so far this season, and are currently in 6th place in the MWJHL standings with 19 points, and an overall record of 8-25.  On Saturday night, #18 Hunter Ledgerwood scored 2 goals for the Ice Dogs, while #13 Logan Bennett, #3 Brent Young, and #24 Marc Rotundo each added a goal.  The Michigan Ice Dogs are lead by their head coach Jeff Price, and his coaching staff consisting of Derrick Danielson, and Mike O'Keefe.  The Ice Dogs play all of their home game at the Farminton Hills Ice Arena located at 35500 W. 8 Mile Road, in Farmington Hills.
