FPHL News: October 2018
The FHL (Federal Hockey League) will be known as the FPHL (Federal Prospects Hockey League) beginning this season. The 2018-2019 FPHL season will feature six teams including two expansion teams known as the Elmira Enforcers (Elmira, New York), and the Mentor Ice Breakers (Mentor, Ohio). The North Shore Knights (Ontario, Canada), the Cornwall Nationals (Cornwall, Ontario), and the Northern Federals (travel only team) have all ceased operations.
The Elmira Enforcers, and the Mentor Ice Breakers will be joined this season by the Carolina Thunderbirds (Winston-Salem, North Carolina), the Danville Dashers, (Danville, Illinois), the Watertown Wolves (Watertown, New York), and the Port Huron Prowlers (Port Huron, Michigan).
The Watertown Wolves defeated the Port Huron Prowlers three games to one last season to claim the 2018 Commissioner's Cup. The Danville Dashers won the 2017 Commissioner's Cup, and the Port Huron Prowlers won the 2016 Commissioner's Cup. Game Notes
- The FPHL 2018-2019 regular season begins on Friday, October 26th.
- The FHL played its first season in 2010-2011.
- The Watertown Wolves won the 2015 Commissioner's Cup.
- The Danville Dashers recently traded Ahmed Mahfouz to the Elmira Enforcers.
- Ahmed Mahfouz played for the Port Huron Prowlers from 2015-2017.
- Ahmed Mahfouz is the all time FHL leader in goals, assists, points, penalty minutes, and games played.
- The St. Clair Shores Fighting Saints competed in the FHL during the 2016-2017 season.
