Holy Cross 7 - LTU 2

Holy Cross College defeated Lawrence Tech University 7-2 last night at the Southfield Ice Arena!

Holy Cross College came into the Southfield Ice Arena last night as one of the hottest teams in Division 3 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association).  The Saints are currently in second place in the North Conference standings, and their 179 goals scored this season is the most in the league.  Lawrence Tech played well at the start of the game, and held the Saints scoreless until the 12:41 mark of the first period.  The score remained 1-0 until two minutes into the second period when the Blue Devils evened things up at 1-1.  The score changed just 40 seconds later when Holy Cross regained the lead 2-1, and then added another goal to make it 3-1.  Lawrence Tech fought hard to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Saints' B.J. Kolcz increased the Holy Cross lead to 4-2 after two periods.  The Saints added three more goals in the third period, and defeated Lawrence Tech 7-2.  Both teams will meet again today at the Southfield Ice Arena at 4:00 p.m.
The Holy Cross hockey club improved their overall record to 21-10, and the Saints now have 42 points.  Click on the links below for more information about Holy Cross College athletics, or the American Collegiate Hockey Association.  Be sure to check out exclusive photos from last nights game at the Southfield Ice Arena.

SVSU 8 - LTU 0

On Friday night, Saginaw Valley State University (in red) defeated Lawrence Tech University (in white) 8-0.

Both teams played evenly through a scoreless first period on Friday night, but things began to change after the first intermission.  Lawrence Tech has struggled so far this season, and not even a raucous student body section at the Southfield Ice Arena would factor into the one sided affair. Saginaw Valley State scored five unanswered goals in the second period to take control of the game, and the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech found it difficult to respond.  #18 Guy Soulliere opened up the scoring just two minutes into the second period, and Saginaw Valley State lead 1-0.  #6 Adam Leibinger added a goal about five minutes later, and the route was on. The Saginaw Valley State Cardinals scored three more goals in the third period to pick up the 8-0 shutout victory over Lawrence Tech.  #13 Brandon Pirtle, and #15 Tyler Myers were among several players to score for Saginaw Valley State.
The Saginaw Valley State University hockey team competes in Division 3 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association), and currently sit in the middle of the MCHC (Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference) standings with 18 points, and a 9-13 overall record.  There are 27 teams competing in the North Conference this season.  Click on the link below for more information about the Saginaw Valley State University hockey team.

UofD 6 - LTU 4

On Sunday night, the University of Detroit Mercy defeated Lawrence Tech University 6-4.

The Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils hosted the University of Detroit Mercy Titans on Sunday night, just one night after loosing to the Titans 3-2 on the road.  Lawrence Tech allowed the University of Detroit to take an early 2-0 lead, and even though the Blue Devils fought hard to get back into the game, the deficit would prove to be to much.  Every time that the Blue Devils scored, the Titans answered with a goal of their own, steering away any momentum that the Blue Devils were building.  The Blue Devils pulled their goalie (George Grzywacz) late in the contest, but the moved backfired when the University of Detroit added an empty net goal with four seconds remaining.  The Titans hung on to earn the 6-4 victory over the Blue Devils at the Southfield Ice Arena.
