CMU Without Zeigler and Zeigler

Trey Zeigler has officially transferred to the University of Pittsburg less than a month after his father was fired as the head coach of the CMU (Central Michigan University) men's basketball team.  Trey lead the Chippewas in scoring last season (15.8 points per game) in his Sophomore campaign, but the team finished 5-11 in the MAC (Mid American Conference) with an 11-21 overall record.  Trey will have to sit out next season but is expected to contribute to a talented Pitt lineup in the 2013-2014 season.  Pittsburg's men's basketball head coach Jamie Dixon was an assistant with Ernie Zeigler on Ben Howland's staff during Howland's reign as the head coach of the Pitt Panthers, and that may have been a factor in the decision.  Chippewas guards Austin Keel, and Austin McBroom have both expressed their interest in transferring after the firing of Ernie Zeigler, but neither player has yet to officially transfer from the CMU program.
The Chippewas announced last Tuesday in a press conference that former AP National Coach of the Year Keno Davis will take over the responsibility as the head coach of the CMU mens basketball team.  Davis received the award in 2008 while at Drake, but struggled as the head coach at Providence, and was fired after last season.  Davis becomes the 20th head coach in CMU team history.
