UofM-D vs. Mercyhurst





Over the weekend, The University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines earned 2 wins over the Mercyhurst University Lakers.











     On Saturday, January 13th, the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolverines defeated the Mercyhurst University Lakers 9-2.  The Wolverines also defeated the Lakers 8-2 the previous night.   Both schools compete in Division 1 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association).  The Mercyhurst University Lakers also field a NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division 1 hockey team.  Scroll down to check out exclusive photos from Saturday night's college hockey showdown.  Click on the links below for more information about the ACHA, or the NCAA.
     The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team currently has an overall record of 12-5-1 (1 shootout loss).  The Wolverines compete in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) against 8 other schools.  Click on the links below for more information about the University of Michigan Dearborn athletic program, or the GLCHL.

EMU Hockey in Taylor





Last Sunday, Eastern Michigan University (in gray) defeated Slippery Rock University (in black) 8-3.











     The Eastern Michigan University hockey team competes in Division I of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association), and the Eagles play all of their home games at the Taylor Sportsplex.  EMU competes in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) along with six other local schools.  The Eagles are currently in 7th place in the GLCHL standings with 8 points and an overall record of 4-11.  EMU is currently ranked 46th in the Country according to the ACHA Division  I Poll.  Click on past months to see exclusive photos from several Eastern Michigan University hockey games.  Scroll down to see photos from last Sunday's ACHA showdown..

EMU vs. John Carroll





Eastern Michigan University (in green, and white) battled John Carroll (in dark blue) on Sunday afternoon!





The game was played at the Taylor Sportsplex.  Eastern Michigan plays all of their home games there!





John Carroll scored the first goal of the game 9 minutes, and 5 seconds into the 2nd period.





EMU outshot John Carroll 40-35.  EMU played on Friday, and Saturday before welcoming JCU to town on Sunday!





John Carroll celebrated three goals in the second period.  They would add another in the third.






John Carroll currently sits in 2nd place in the CHMA (College Hockey Mid-America) Conference!






EMU is currently in 4th place in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) Conference.





John Carroll defeated Eastern Michigan 4-0.  EMU dropped to 5-7 overall.  Click on the links below.

John Carroll 4 - EMU 0





John Carroll University (in dark blue) defeated Eastern Michigan University (in green, and white) 4-0 on Sunday afternoon!








     The Taylor Sportsplex was the venue for ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) hockey last Sunday afternoon.  The John Carroll University Blue Streaks brought their 6-5 record to Taylor to take on the 5-6 Eastern Michigan University Eagles.  Eastern Michigan was playing their third game in three consecutive days, and failed to score against the Blue Streaks on Sunday.  Both teams were held scoreless until midway through the second period when #20 Kevin Vinyard found the back of the net to give the Blue Steaks an early lead.  John Carroll scored another goal about a minute later when #21 Mike Gionta cashed in on the power play.  #17 Jeff Russell added two more goals to the scoreboard (1 in the 2nd period, and 1 in the 3rd period) to give John Carroll the 4-0 win over Eastern Michigan.  The Eagles outshot the Blue Streaks 40-35, but took bad penalties, and allowed John Carroll to work the puck in the EMU zone, and take quality shots on goal.  John Carroll improved their overall record to 7-5 (with two overtime wins, and one shootout loss).  Eastern Michigan fell to 5-7 overall (with one overtime win).

John Carroll's #29 Justin Camuto stopped 40 shots on Sunday afternoon!  The senior goalie earned the shutout victory!

Mercyhurst 5 - UofM-D 2





Mercyhurst College left Dearborn last night with a 5-2 victory over the Wolverines!





Mercyhurst College outshot UofM-D 45-36. 






#30 Ian Ansel made 43 saves against the Wolverines on Friday night!






UofM-D's #55 Derek Kessler tells Mercyhurst's #4 Derek Blanchard where the good restaurants in Dearborn are at!







UofM-Dearborn lost to Mercyhurst 5-2.  UofM-D has an overall record of 5-7- with 1 loss in overtime.

UofM-D 7 - Pitt 4





The University of Michigan Dearborn battled the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday October 12th!




This was the second meeting in two nights between the Wolverines, and the Panthers!




The Wolverines goalie #41 Micah Collier celebrates an early goal!




#28 Kyle Horn fights off the body check from #7 Bobby Tritschler! 




The Wolverines smothered the Panthers for 60 minutes!




The referees were having none of the rough stuff!

The Wolverines were solid on offense, and defense!




The Wolverines defeated the Panthers for the second night in a row!




The Wolverines celebrate a 7-4 victory over Pitt!

UofM-D 5 - Pitt 2





On Friday October 11th, the University of Pittsburgh visited the University of Michigan Dearborn!




Both teams compete in Division 1 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association)!




This was a non-conference showdown between the Wolverines, and Panthers!




Friday night's game was very physical!




The Wolverines outshot the Panthers 45-26!




#26 Nicholas Crowley had one assist for the Wolverines on Friday! 




#93 Jeremy Klotz scored a second period goal for UofM-D!




#5 Andrew Shalawylo contributed one assist for the players formerly known as the Wolves!




The Wolverines defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers by a final score of 5-2.

UofM-D Pounds Pitt





The University of Michigan-Dearborn defeated the University of Pittsburgh twice over the weekend! 








     The University of Michigan-Dearborn hockey team welcomed the University of Pittsburgh to town over the weekend for a pair of primetime ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) matchups.  The Pittsburgh Panthers compete in the CHMA (College Hockey Mid-America) Conference along with seven other teams from Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The UofM-D Wolverines compete in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) with six other teams, five of which are from the state of Michigan (Adrian College, Davenport, Eastern Michigan University, Oakland University, and Western Michigan University).  UofM-D has always been known as the Wolves, but this year they have changed their name, and are now known as the Wolverines.  Their official website will still be  gowolves.net
     On Friday night the Wolverines scored four goals in the second period to aid them to a 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh.  #22 Jase Paciocco scored twice for the Wolverines as his team outshot the Panthers 45-26.  Despite allowing five goals, #35 Rob Behling made 40 saves for Pittsburgh.
