EMU Men's Hockey Dormant

 


The EMU Men's hockey team in 2020.  This game was against the Colorado State University Rams.




     The Eastern Michigan University Men's hockey team is dormant for the 2024-2025 season.  The announcement was made on May 28th on the EMU hockey social media platforms.  The Eagles previously competed in Division 1 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association).  The Eagles were in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League).  The EMU Men's hockey team played their home games at the Biggby Coffee Ice Cube in Ann Arbor.

-  Several EMU Men's hockey games were featured on the Mitten State Sports Report.

 

-  The EMU Men's hockey team is on Facebook, and on Instagram. 


-  The EMU hockey team finished the 2023-2024 season in 9th place in the GLCHL standings with 9 points, and an overall record of 4-22-1 (1 shootout loss). 

 

-  Dimitri Dibrano was the Head Coach of the EMU Men's hockey team last season.


-  Eddie Cannon was an Assistant Coach on the EMU Men's hockey team last season.


-  The GLCHL currently features 5 teams for the 2024-2025 season.


-  The Eastern Michigan University Women's ice hockey team competes in Division 2 of the ACHA.

PASL Dormant

 


The Detroit Waza Flo competed in the PASL in 2020.  This game was against the Cincinnati Swerve.




     The PASL (Premier Arena Soccer League) is dormant for the 2024-2025 season.  Several former PASL teams now compete in the MASL 3 (3rd Division of the Major Arena Soccer League).  Some of those teams include Austin Emerald FC, the Detroit Waza Flo, FC Indiana Lions, Houston Bolt FC, and the Youngstown Nighthawks.  The Chicago Mustangs are a former PASL team that now competes in MLIS (Major League Indoor Soccer).

RU Is Now RCU

 



     Rochester University is now known as Rochester Christian University.  The name change was made in the beginning of the 2024-2025 season.  The name change should help avoid confusion with the University of Rochester located in Rochester, New York.   

     RCU athletic teams are still known as the Warriors, and the school is still a NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) program.  The Warriors still compete in the WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference).

Youngstown 5-4 USA

     On Wednesday, November 27th, the Youngstown Phantoms defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 5-4.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Wednesday night's game was played at the USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USHL action in Plymouth. 

     The Youngstown Phantoms are currently in 4th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 26 points, and an overall record of 13-7.  Team USA is currently in 8th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 7 points, and an overall record of 3-13-1 (1 overtime loss). Team USA also fields a U-18 Team.

Pickles On YouTube

 



     The Portland Pickles Baseball YouTube channel currently features 394 videos for fans of high-level baseball.  The Portland Pickles Baseball YouTube channel includes videos of full games, and shorter videos like the Portland Pickles Pregame Show.  The Portland Pickles are a collegiate summer baseball team that competes in the West Coast League.  The Portland Pickles Baseball YouTube channel currently has over 3,700 subscribers.

     The Portland Pickles are currently in 2nd place in the West Coast League South Division standings with an overall record of 20-8.  Portland is currently riding a five-game winning streak, and the Pickles are 8-2 in their last 10 games.  The Portland Pickles are currently two and a half games behind the Corvallis Knights.  

     Some of the players on the Portland Pickles roster include #49 Pitcher Ryder Edwards, Infielder #26 Kevin Ferguson, Infielder #19 Tyler Harries, Infielder #16 Patrick Keighran, Pitcher #45 Noah Luchessi, Outfielder #9 Tony Otis, Infielder #14 Alex Overbay, and Pitcher #56 Freddie Rodriguez.

Boyd In Cleveland

 



     The Cleveland Guardians recently signed Pitcher #16 Matthew Boyd to a one-year contract.  Matthew Boyd played for the Detroit Tigers from 2015-2021, and again in 2023.  The Toronto Blue Jays selected Matthew Boyd in the 6th round (175th overall pick) of the 2013 MLB Draft.  Matthew Boyd grew up in the state of Washington. 

     The Cleveland Guardians are currently in 1st place in the AL Central standings with an overall record of 54-31.  Some of the players on the Guardians active roster include Pitcher #48 Emmanuel Clase, Catcher #27 Austin Hedges, Outfielder #38 Steven Kwan, Pitcher #39 Ben Lively, Catcher #23 Bo Naylor, Infielder #22 Josh Naylor, and Infielder #11 Jose Ramirez.  Pitcher #57 Shane Bieber is currently on the 60-day injured list.  Pitcher #16 Matthew Boyd is currently on the 15-day injured list.

Motor Muster 2024

     Motor Muster 2024 took place on June 15th - June 16th at Greenfield Village.  The event featured hundreds of cars from the 1930's through the 1970's.  There were also bicycles, commercial vehicles, boats, military vehicles, and motorcycles on display.  Motor Muster 2024 also featured live music, and a Pass-In-Review Parade.  Greenfield Village is located at 20900 Oakwood Blvd, in Dearborn.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of Motor Muster 2024.
