Titans Have Talent

The University of Detroit Mercy Men's basketball team is off to a rough start this season.  The Titans currently have an overall record of 2-12, and as the saying goes you are what you're record says you are.  The Titans do have talented players on their roster including one of the top scorers in the Country.  Sophomore Guard #0 Antoine Davis is currently averaging 25.6 points per game, and Davis is shooting over 93% from the free throw line.  Antoine Davis is the son of Titans Head Coach Mike Davis.
#12 Guard Brad Calipari is a graduate transfer from the University of Kentucky.  Brad is the son of Kentucky Wildcats Head Coach John Calipari.  Brad Calipari is an excellent three point shooter, and he's currently averaging 7.1 points per game for the Titans this season.  Calipari is shooting over 44% from the field, and he's averaging over 45% from three point range.
Other players will have ample opportunities to step up this season including a trio of Sophomore Forwards.  #21 Chris Brandon, #41 Willy Isiani, and #1 Marquise Moore have each played in all fourteen games this season, and all three players have tremendous upside.  Junior Guard #4 Dwayne Rose Jr. is also a veteran that the Titans can rely on.  Rose Jr. played his Freshman season for the University of Toledo Rockets.  Dwayne Rose Jr. is the nephew of current Detroit Pistons Guard #25 Derrick Rose.

Formula E on FS1

2019-2020 Formula E (ABB FIA Formula E) races are televised live on FS1 (Fox Sports 1).  The 6th Formula E season features twelve teams, and twenty four cars, and drivers.  Fourteen races are taking place at twelve cities across the World including Berlin, London, Mexico City, New York, Paris, Rome, and Seoul.  #27 Alexander Sims (Great Britain), and #28 Max Guenther (Germany) are both racing for BMW i Andretti Motorsport.  #27 Alexander Sims tasted success earlier this season when he won the second race of the Diriyah E-Prix in Saudi Arabia.
Formula E racing is fun to watch because of its competitive races from start to finish.  Formula E races are also intriguing because of Attack Mode, Fanboost, timed 45 minute races (plus one lap), and the fact that all of the cars are fully electric.  Jean-Eric Vergne (France) is the defending Formula E Champion.  The next Formula E race is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th in Santiago, Chile.

Glass Half Full

The main story of the 2019 Quick Lane Bowl should have been the great game, the large crowd at Ford Field, or the tremendous job that Head Coach Chris Creighton has done with the Eastern Michigan University football program.  The University of Pittsburgh Panthers defeated the Eastern Michigan University Eagles 34-30, but the post game conversation was about the punches, or open slaps that occurred towards the end of the bowl game.
Eastern Michigan University Quarterback #9 Mike Glass III was ejected near the end of the 2019 Quick Lane Bowl for punching (or smacking) two different opposing players while accidentally making contact with an official.  The referee appeared to be more stunned than he was hurt on the play, but the incident didn't look great on a Nationally televised ESPN prime time broadcast.
#9 Mike Glass III is a talented Quarterback that is fun to watch, and I believe that he will be on a NFL (National Football League) team next season possibly as an undrafted free agent.  I also believe that the Eastern Michigan University football program can recover from an embarrassing incident that doesn't necessarily have to define their season, or their program.  Any publicity for the Eastern Michigan University football program could be a positive thing, and the timing of the incident helps because the team will not play another game until next season.

Arena Football League News

On Wednesday, November 27th, The AFL (Arena Football League) announced that they've ceased operations.  The AFL played their first season back in 1987, but the league rode a roller coaster of ups and downs ever since its inception.  The league added, and subtracted teams on an annual basis, and the most popular franchises like the Iowa Barnstormers, and the Arizona Rattlers left to join the IFL (Indoor Football League) years ago.  The 2019 AFL season included 6 teams, and no big time television deal.
The 2019 AFL season featured the Albany Empire, the Atlantic City Blackjacks, the Baltimore Brigade, the Columbus Destroyers, the Philadelphia Soul, and the Washington Valor.  The Albany Empire won Arena Bowl 32 by defeating the Philadelphia Soul 45-27.  Click on the link below for more information about the AFL.
