On Wednesday, December 26th, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 34-10 in the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl. The game was played at Ford Field located at 2000 Brush Street, in Detroit, Michigan. Both schools finished the 2018-2019 season with overall records of 7-6. - P.J. Fleck is the Head Coach of the University of Minnesota football team.
- Geoff Collins is the Head Coach of the Georgia Tech football team. He was hired on December 7, 2018.
- Paul Johnson is the former Head Coach of the Georgia Tech football team. He coached the Yellow Jackets in the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl.
- There was an announced attendance of over 27,000 fans at the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl.
- Minnesota running back #24 Mohamed Ibrahim ran for 224 yards, and 2 touchdowns at the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl.
- Georgia Tech Quarterback #16 TaQuon Marshall ran for 75 yards, and threw for 76 yards in the 2018 Quick Lane Bowl.
- The Minnesota Golden Gophers compete in the Big Ten Conference.
- The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets compete in the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference).
