MLR News: June 2022

 

     On Saturday, June 25th, Rugby New York defeated the Seattle Seawolves 30-15 to win the 2022 MLR (Major League Rugby) Championship.  Yesterday's game was played at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.  The 2022 MLR Championship was broadcast nationally live on Fox. 

     The 2022 Major League Rugby season featured two conferences, and thirteen teams.  The Eastern Conference included the New England Free Jacks, NOLA Gold, Old Glory DC, Rugby ATL, Rugby New York, and the Toronto Arrows.  The Western Conference included the Austin Gilgronis, the Dallas Jackals, the Houston SaberCats, the LA Giltinis, the San Diego Legion, the Seattle Seawolves, and the Utah Warriors. 

     Rugby New York finished the 2022 MLR regular season in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference standings with 56 points, and an overall record of 11-5.  The Seattle Seawolves finished the 2022 MLR regular season in 3rd place in the Western Conference standings with 51 points, and an overall record of 9-7.

Atoms 26-23 Cavalry

 

     On Friday, June 24th, the Albuquerque Atoms defeated the Ottawa Cavalry 26-23 to win the SFLm (Simulation Football League Minor League) Season 5 Championship.  Atoms Kicker #7 Mickey Melillo kicked a 38-yard game winning field goal with only ten seconds left on the clock.  Atoms Quarterback #15 Trellis Blanton was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Championship Game.  Blanton completed 36 of 44 passing attempts for 361 yards, and 1 touchdown.  The SFLm Season 5 Championship Game was played at TMU Field (also known as Fatality Field) in Pheonix, Arizona.  

     The Albuquerque Atoms finished the SFLm 5th regular season in 3rd place in the standings with an overall record of 5-3.  The Ottawa Cavalry finished the SFLm 5th regular season in 4th place in the standings with an overall record of 4-4.  The Annapolis Navigators, the Lexington Miners, the Lincoln Rattlesnakes, the Madison Lynx, the San Jose Flight, and the Tacoma Grizzlies also competed in the SFLm 5th regular season.

NFC Fitness Court In Redford

     There's a fairly new NFC (National Fitness Campaign) Fitness Court located inside of Claude Allison Park in Redford.  The NFC Fitness Court serves as an outdoor gym that features over thirty pieces of bodyweight equipment.  There are countless ways to utilize the equipment to increase agility, balance, and strength.  Claude Allison Park is located off of Beech Daly Road just north of 6 Mile Road.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of the NFC Fitness Court in Redford.

PWBA On CBSSN

 

     Live, and archived PWBA (Professional Women's Bowling Association) events can be seen on CBSSN (CBS Sports Network).  The next live PWBA broadcast on CBSSN is the final day of the 2022 U.S. Women's Open scheduled for tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.  The 2022 U.S. Women's Open is being played in South Glens Falls, New York.  

     The PWBA features many of the top bowlers in the sport including Breanna Clemmer, Bryanna Cote, Verity Crawley, Clara Guerrero, Liz Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Dasha Kovalova, Danielle McEwan, Shannon O'Keefe, Birgit Noreiks, Tannya Roumimper, and Cherie Tan. 

     The 2022 PWBA Members currently features four Women from the state of Michigan including Brianna Andrew (Grand Rapids), Chelsea Klingler (Grand Rapids), Dasha Kovalova (Muskegon), and Haley Richard (Tipton). 

     The 2022 PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles is scheduled for July 28th - July 31st in Houston Texas.  The final event of the season is the 2022 PWBA Classic Series - Dallas scheduled for August 2nd - August 9th in Dallas, Texas.

USPBL News: June 2022

 

     The 2022 USPBL (United Shore Professional Baseball League) season features four teams including the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers, the Eastside Diamond Hoppers, the Utica Unicorns, and the Westside Woolly Mammoths.  The Utica Unicorns won the 2021 USPBL Championship.  The Unicorns also won the USPBL Championship in 2016, 2019, and in 2020.  

     The Utica Unicorns are currently in 1st place in the USPBL East Division with an overall record of 10-1.  The Eastside Diamond Hoppers are currently in 2nd place in the USPBL East Division with an overall record of 4-7.  The Westside Woolly Mammoths are currently in 1st place in the USPBL West Division with an overall record of 5-6.  The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers are currently in 2nd place in the USPBL West Division with an overall record of 3-8. 

     The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers roster includes two players from the state of Michigan including Pitcher #20 Zach Devon (Redford), and Pitcher #35 Nick Shaw (Coldwater).  The Westside Wooly Mammoths roster also includes two players from the state of Michigan including Catcher #13 Nick Caruso (Sterling Heights), and Pitcher #19 Greg Loukinen (Berkley).  

     The Eastside Diamond Hoppers roster includes five players from the state of Michigan including Pitcher #6 Carson Ferry (Paw Paw), Catcher #24 Whit Hughes (Emmett), Utility Player #5 Noah Marcoux (Saginaw), Pitcher #27 Andrew Verbrugge (Grand Rapids), and Pitcher #14 Jacob Wosinski (Ada).  The Utica Unicorns roster includes no players from the state of Michigan.

     On Sunday, June 12th, Oakland County FC defeated Lansing City Football 4-2.  Both teams compete against each other in the USL (United Soccer League) League Two Great Lakes Division.  Sunday afternoon's match was played at Royal Oak High School.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USL League Two action.

     Oakland County FC is currently in 4th place in the USL League Two Great Lakes Division standings with 7 points, and an overall record of 2-4-1 (1 draw).  Lansing City Football is currently in 6th place in the USL League Two Great Lakes Division standings with 3 points, and an overall record of 1-5.  AFC Ann Arbor, the Flint City Bucks, Kalamazoo FC, and Midwest United also compete in the USL League Two Great Lakes Division.

USL League One On YouTube

 

     The USL League One YouTube channel currently features 1,474 videos for fans of American soccer.  Some of the videos on the USL League One YouTube channel show the "Goal of the Week, the "Save of the Week", the "Goal of the Month", and the "Save of the Month".  There are also videos of full games, and videos of just highlights.  The USL League One YouTube channel currently has over 10,000 subscribers.

     The 2022 USL League One season features eleven teams including Central Valley Fuego FC, the Charlotte Independence, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, FC Tucson, Forward Madison FC, Greenville Triumph SC, North Carolina FC, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, the Richmond Kickers, South Georgia Tormenta FC, and Union Omaha.  The Richmond Kickers are currently in 1st place in the USL League One standings with 15 points, and an overall record of 4-3-3 (3 draws).

AFC Ann Arbor 5-0 OCFC

 

On Saturday, May 28th, AFC Ann Arbor (in light blue) defeated Oakland County FC (in purple) 5-0.
