On Saturday, June 25th, Rugby New York defeated the Seattle Seawolves 30-15 to win the 2022 MLR (Major League Rugby) Championship. Yesterday's game was played at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. The 2022 MLR Championship was broadcast nationally live on Fox.
The 2022 Major League Rugby season featured two conferences, and thirteen teams. The Eastern Conference included the New England Free Jacks, NOLA Gold, Old Glory DC, Rugby ATL, Rugby New York, and the Toronto Arrows. The Western Conference included the Austin Gilgronis, the Dallas Jackals, the Houston SaberCats, the LA Giltinis, the San Diego Legion, the Seattle Seawolves, and the Utah Warriors.
Rugby New York finished the 2022 MLR regular season in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference standings with 56 points, and an overall record of 11-5. The Seattle Seawolves finished the 2022 MLR regular season in 3rd place in the Western Conference standings with 51 points, and an overall record of 9-7.
