Gohlke In Wisconsin

 



     Former Oakland University Guard Jack Gohlke is currently playing in the NBA G League for the Wisconsin Herd.  Gohlke played for Oakland University during the 2023-2024 season.  Jack Gohlke also played for Hillsdale College from 2019-2023.  Jack Gohlke was born in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

     Jack Gohlke is currently averaging 3.5 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game, and 1.1 assists per game in 18 games played this season for the Wisconsin Herd.  The Herd are currently in 12th place in the NBA G League Eastern Conference standings with an overall record of 10-13.  The Wisconsin Herd are a minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Cruise News 2025

 



     The Motor City Cruise are currently in 9th place in the NBA G League Eastern Conference standings with an overall record of 12-10.  The Motor City Cruise play their home games at the Wayne State Fieldhouse located at 1290 W Warren Avenue, in Detroit, Michigan.  The Motor City Cruise are a minor league affiliate of the Detroit Pistons.

      Motor City Cruise Guard #24 Daniss Jenkins is currently averaging 18.3 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, and 5.6 assists per game.  Cruise Forward #35 Tolu Smith is currently averaging 17 points per game,12.6 rebounds per game, and 2.2 assists per game.  Cruise Guard #24 Ron Harper Jr. is currently averaging 15.5 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 2.0 assists per game.  Cruise #17 Forward Cameron Martin is currently averaging 9.4 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game. 

     Motor City Cruise Forward #14 John Ukomadu is currently averaging 6.4 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game, and 0.4 assists per game.  Cruise Forward #33 Malik Hall is currently averaging 5.2 points per game, 4.3 assists per game, and 0.9 assists per game.  Cruise Forward Myles Burns is currently averaging 4.8 points per game, 2.2 rebounds per game, and 0.6 assists per game.

     The Motor City Cruise are scheduled to play their next home game on Wednesday, March 12th against the Capital City Go-Go (TBA).  The Cruise are scheduled to host the Go-Go again on Friday, March 14th at 7:00 p.m.  The Motor City Cruise are scheduled to host the Cleveland Charge on Sunday, March 16th (TBA).

Maton In Chicago

 



     Former Detroit Tigers Utility Player #0 Nick Maton recently signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox.  Maton played for the Detroit Tigers (mostly at Third Base) in 2023.  The Philadelphia Phillies selected Nick Maton in the 7th round (203rd overall pick) of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft.  Nick Maton grew up in Chatham, Illinois. 

     Nick Maton spent much of the 2024 season in the minor league system with the Norfolk Tides.  Maton batted .258 with 16 home runs, and 57 RBI in 91 minor league games played last season.  The Norfolk Tides are the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.  Former Tigers Short Stop Niko Goodrum also played last season with the Norfolk Tides.

Goodrum in San Diego

 



     Former Detroit Tigers Utility Player #0 Niko Goodrum recently signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres.  Goodrum played (mostly at Shortstop) for the Detroit Tigers from 2018-2021.  The Minnesota Twins selected Niko Goodrum in the 2nd round (71st overall pick) of the 2010 Major League Draft.  Niko Goodrum is from Atlanta, Georgia. 

     Niko Goodrum spent much of the 2024 season in the minor league system with three different ball clubs.  Goodrum batted .284 with 7 homeruns, and 44 RBI in 60 minor league games played last season.  Niko Goodrum spent most of the 2024 season playing for the Norfolk Tides.  The Norfolk Tides are a Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.

Pharaohs News

 



     The Pontiac Pharaohs are currently in 6th place in the 2024-2025 BSL (Basketball Super League) standings with an overall record of 8-12.  The Sudbury Five are currently in 1st place in the BSL standings with an overall record of 16-6.  The Windsor Express are currently in 2nd place in the BSL standings with an overall record of 13-6.  The KW (Kitchener Waterloo) Titans are currently in 3rd place in the BSL standings with an overall record of 13-7.  There are eight teams competing in the 2024-2025 BSL season.  

     The Pontiac Pharaohs current roster includes Guard #1 Lance Adams, Guard #11 Dwight Burton, Forward #3 Khalil Gracey, Forward #9 Jaire Grayer, Forward #7 Davon Haynes, Guard #4 Orlando Little, Guard #6 Tim Steward, Center #14 James Still, Forward #2 Jalen Sykes, and Forward #10 Trent Temple. Most of the players on the Pharaohs roster played college basketball in our local area.  Many of the players on the Pharaohs roster also played for Pontiac last season.

     Pontiac Pharaohs Forward #3 Khalil Gracey is currently averaging 21.3 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and 4.3 assists per game.  Pharaohs Forward #9 Jaire Grayer is currently averaging 20.6 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game, and 3.6 assists per game.  Pharaohs Forward #10 Trent Temple is currently averaging 13.9 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 1.9 assists per game.  

     Pontiac Pharaohs Guard #4 Orlando Little is currently averaging 11.8 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game.  Pharaohs Guard #1 Lance Adams is currently averaging 11.8 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, and 1.4 assists per game.  Pharaohs Guard #11 Dwight Burton is currently averaging 11.8 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, and 1.3 assists per game. 

     The Pontiac Pharaohs have released four players this season including Center Trey Adams, Guard Andre Johnson, Forward Deon Rice, and Guard James Towns II.  Guard James Towns II currently plays for the London Lightning.  Former Pharaohs Guard Mike Bruce currently plays for the Windsor Express.  Bruce played for the Pharaohs last season.

     The Pontiac Pharaohs play their home games at Pontiac High School located at 1051 Arlene Avenue in Pontiac, Michigan.  The Pharaohs are scheduled to host the Jamestown Jackals on Thursday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m.  The Pharaohs are scheduled to host the London Lightning on Sunday, March 9th at 3:00 p.m.  The Pharaohs are scheduled to host the Glass City Wranglers on Saturday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m.  The Pharaohs are scheduled to host the KW (Kitchener Waterloo) Titans on Thursday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m.

AAPB On YouTube

 



     The American Association of Professional Baseball YouTube channel currently has 338 videos for fans of professional baseball.  Some of the videos on the YouTube channel include "2023 American Association All-Star Game", "2023 American Association Home Run Derby", and "Miles Wolff Cup Finals: Game #5".  There are also several videos of a show called "The Whip Around".  The American Association of Professional Baseball YouTube channel currently has 745 subscribers.

     The 2025 AAPB season will feature two divisions, and twelve teams.  The East Division includes the Chicago Dogs, the Cleburne Railroaders, the Gary Southshore Railcats, the Kane County Cougars, the Lake County Dockhounds, and the Milwaukee Milkmen.  The West Division includes the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, the Kansas City Monarchs, the Lincoln Saltdogs, the Sioux City Explorers, the Sioux Falls Canaries, and the Winnipeg Goldeyes.  

     Lake County Infielder #40 Ryan Hernandez lead the AAPB last season in home runs with 29.  Chicago Infielder #5 Jacob Teter had 28 home runs last season with a .349 batting average (league leader), and 95 RBI (league leader).  Some other players that had a good season last year include Kansas City Outfielder #4 Ross Adolph, Cleburne Infielder #13 Carter Aldrete, Cleburne Outfielder #3 Hill Alexander, Chicago Outfielder #36 Narciso Crook, Cleburne Catcher #11 Jaxx Groshans, Sioux City Infielder #24 John Nogowski, Cleburne Outfielder #21 Brian O'Grady, and Lake County Infielder #23 Curtis Terry.  

     Winnipeg Pitcher #16 Joey Matulovich lead the AAPB last season in strikeouts with 145.  Matulovich also had a 2.12 ERA (league leader), and a regular season record of 11-3.  Sioux Falls Pitcher #9 Ty Culbreth had the most wins in the AAPB last season with 12.  Some other Pitchers that had a good season last year include Winnipeg Pitcher #32 Landen Bourassa, Sioux Falls Pitcher #22 Tanner Brown, Kansas City Pitcher #19 Julian Garcia, Kane County Pitcher #32 Greg Mahle, Lincoln Pitcher #38 Foster Pace, Milwaukee Pitcher #35 Sebastian Rodriguez, and Cleburne Pitcher #38 Johnathon Tripp.

USA 4-3 Dubuque

     On Saturday, February 22nd, the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-18 Team defeated the Dubuque Fighting Saints 4-3 in a shootout.  Team USA Forward #43 Mikey Berchild scored the game winning goal in the shootout.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Team USA plays their home games at USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.

     The Dubuque Fighting Saints are currently in 1st place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 64 points, and an overall record of 31-14-0-2 (2 shootout losses).  Team USA is currently in 8th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 29 points, and an overall record of 13-26-1-2 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses).  

     USA NTDP Goaltender #1 Joey Slavick is from Westland, Michigan.  The Dubuque Fighting Saints currently have four players on their roster from the state of Michigan including Forward #13 Michael Barron (Canton), Goaltender #35 Liam Beerman (Marquette), Forward #20 Gavin Lock (Plymouth), and Forward #26 Lucas Van Vliet (Livonia).

Update: In-Depth Outdoors

 



     InDepthOutdoorsTV was a Mitten State Sports Report YouTube suggestion back in December of 2020, but the television show stopped producing content about two years ago.  The announcement came on the In-Depth Outdoors website, and on the final television episode back in February of 2023.  The InDepthOutdoorsTV YouTube channel and In-Depth Outdoors website are going to remain active for years to come according to In-Depth Outdoors founder James Holst.

     James Holst was the founder, host, and producer of In-Depth Outdoors for all seventeen seasons. Holst has worked as a marketing consultant for several companies in the outdoor industry.  P.J. Vick was a co-host on In-Depth Outdoors.  Vick currently owns and operates a fishing charter in Huron, Ohio called Great Lakes Angling.  

     Former IDO team member Marcus Quam currently owns Reel Therapy Guide Service located in Webster, South Dakota.  Former IDO team member Paul Delaney currently owns Late-Eyes Sport Fishing Guide Service located in Door County, Wisconsin.  Former IDO team member Konner Kleist is a fishing guide in Otter Tail County, Minnesota.  Dave Koonce, Pat McSharry, and Cal Svihel are also former members of the IDO fishing team.

Youngstown 6-5 USA

     On Thursday, January 30th, the Youngstown Phantoms defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 6-5 in a shootout.  Phantoms Defenseman #13 Luke Osburn scored the game winning goal in the shootout. Luke Osburn is from Plymouth, Michigan.

     The USA NTDP, and the Youngstown Phantoms both compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Team USA plays their home games at USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.      The Youngstown Phantoms are currently in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 51 points, and an overall record of 25-15-0-1 (1 shootout loss).  Team USA is currently in 8th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 25 points, and an overall record of 11-23-1-2 (1 overtime loss, and 2 shootout losses).

We checked out the Michigan Gamblers in January.



The Gamblers play their home games at Big Boy Arena located at 34400 Utica Road, in Fraser.



We attended a Motor City Rockers game.  The Rockers compete in the FPHL.



The Rockers also play their home games at Big Boy Arena in Fraser.



We saw a college hockey game in Dearborn.



We watched the USA NTDP U-18 Team in February.





We also checked out the USA NTDP U-17 Team.



The 42nd Annual Plymouth Ice Festival was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report.



We posted about the closing of Northville Downs.





We saw USL League Two action in Royal Oak.



We went to see Vintage Base Ball at Greenfield Village.



Vintage Base Ball, or Historic Base Ball is played by the rules of 1867.

Muskegon 8-1 USA



On Saturday, January 25th, the Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the USA NTDP U-17 Team 8-1.



     On Saturday, January 25th, the Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the USA NTDP (National Team Development Program) U-17 Team 8-1.  Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference of the USHL (United States Hockey League).  Saturday's game was played at USA Hockey Arena located at 14900 Beck Road, in Plymouth, Michigan.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of USHL action in Plymouth.

     The Muskegon Lumberjacks are currently in 2nd place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 50 points, and an overall record of 22-10-2-4 (2 overtime losses, and 4 shootout losses).  Team USA is currently in 7th place in the USHL Eastern Conference standings with 24 points, and an overall record of 11-22-1-1 (1 overtime loss, and 1 shootout loss).  

     Muskegon Lumberjacks Forward #23 Ethan Drabicki is from Livonia, Michigan.  Team USA Defenseman #41 Tyler Martyniuk is from Washington Township, Michigan.  Team USA also fields a U-18 Team that also competes against USHL teams.

Hockey: Faster Than Ever

     "Hockey: Faster Than Ever" is a traveling exhibit that was featured at the Henry Ford Museum from October of 2024 through January 5th, 2025.  The exhibit featured helmets, jerseys, sticks, and several interactive displays.  There was also a lot of Detroit Red Wings memorabilia on display throughout the exhibit.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of "Hockey: Faster Than Ever".
