Football: TSL News

 

      Some live 2020 TSL (The Spring League) games can be seen on FS1.  The 2020 TSL season features six teams including the Alphas, the Aviators, the Blues, the Conquerors, the General, and the Jousters.  All 2020 TSL games are being played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.  The Spring League played its inaugural season in 2017.

     2020 TSL rosters include several players that honed their skills at colleges in the State of Michigan.  Blues Quarterback Shea Patterson, Aviators Running Back De'Veon Smith, and Generals Cornerback Channing Stribling played at the University of Michigan.  Alphas Running Back Madre London, Conquerors Tight End Matt Seybert, and Conquerors Cornerback Jermaine Edmonson Jr. played at Michigan State University.  Aviators Wide Receiver Mathew Sexton played for Eastern Michigan University, and Blues Cornerback Glenn Harris played at Wayne State University. 

     The Aviators, the Blues, and the Generals are currently all tied for 1st place in the TSL standings with overall records of 1-0.  The Alphas, the Conquerors, and the Jousters are currently all tied for second place in the TSL standings with overall records of 0-1.

-  Former Ohio State University Quarterback J.T. Barrett plays for the Alphas.  

-  Former LSU Quarterback Zach Mettenberger plays for the Generals.

-  Former NFL Head Coach Jerry Glanville is now the Head Coach of the Conquerors.  Glanville played college football at Northern Michigan University.

Midwest United FC Wins 3-0

     On Sunday, October 25th, Midwest United FC defeated the Lawrence Tech University Men's Soccer Reserves 3-0.  Midwest United FC recorded 14 shots on goal, and held the Lawrence Tech University Men's Soccer Reserves to just 4 shots on goal.  Sunday's game was played at Blue Devils Stadium in Southfield.  The Lawrence Tech University Men's Soccer Reserves team currently has an overall record 3-2-2.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs from Sunday's game. 

     Midwest United FC formed a partnership with GRFC (Grand Rapids FC) in December of 2019.  The GRFC Women's team is now known as Midwest United FC.  It is unclear as of now if the Midwest United FC Men's team will become an affiliate of the GRFC Men's team, or if the GRFC Men's team will be known as Midwest United FC.  GRFC announced that they would be releasing some exciting news in the next few weeks about the future of the club.  That announcement was made just three days ago on the official Grand Rapids FC Twitter Page.   

     The GRFC Men's team currently competes in the Great Lakes Division of USL League Two.  The Midwest United FC Women's team competes in UWS (United Women's Soccer).  Midwest United FC also has developmental teams for ages ranging from 4-19.

-  Lewis Robinson is the Head Coach of the Midwest United FC Women's team.

-  The Midwest United FC Women's team is scheduled to play their home games at Grandville High School, in Grandville, Michigan.

-  The Grand Rapids FC Women's team won the 2017 UWS (United Women's Soccer) Championship.

-  The GRFC Men's team was featured on the Mitten State Sports Report on June 10th, 2019.

-  It was announced on Tuesday that Joe Broekhuizen is now the General Manager of the GRFC Men's team.

Free Fights On UFC YouTube

 

     The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) YouTube channel features videos of free fights that can be viewed anytime.  Some of the recently posted free fights include Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje vs. Tony Ferguson, Jared Cannonier vs. Jack Hermansson, and Robert Whittaker vs. Derek Brunson.  The UFC YouTube channel also features previews of fights, post-fight press conferences, and post-fight interviews.  The UFC YouTube channel currently features 9,221 videos. 

     UFC 254 takes place today at 2:00 p.m. (on Fight Island) in Abu Dhabi.  Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje is the main event.  The co-main event features Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier.  UFC 254 can be seen on ESPN+.

SFL Final Four

     The final four teams are set in the 15th season of the SFL (Simulation Football League).  The Louisiana Revolution will host the Sioux Falls Sparrows on Monday, October 26th, at 12:00 a.m.  The Denver Nightwings will host the Baltimore Vultures on Monday, October 26th, at 12:00 p.m.  The Atlanta Swarm won the SFL 14th Season Championship, but the Swarm were defeated this season in a Wildcard matchup against the Vancouver Legion 41-33.  

      The Simulation Football League was established in 2013.  Simulation Football League games can be seen on FTF (For The Fans), Eleven Sports, and on the Simulationfl YouTube channel.  The Simulationfl YouTube channel currently features 2,323 videos.  The Simulation Football League is also on Facebook, and Twitter.

-  The Sioux Falls Sparrows lost to the Atlanta Swarm 27-10 in the SFL 14th Season Championship.  

-  The Denver Nightwings won the SFL 13th Season Championship.   

-  The Denver Nightwings finished the SFL 15th regular season with an overall record of 11-1.  

-  The Baltimore Vultures finished the SFL 15th regular season with an overall record of 9-3.

-  The Louisiana Revolution finished the SFL 15th regular season with an overall record of 9-3.  

-  The Sioux Falls Sparrows finished the SFL 15th regular season with an overall record of 9-3. 

-  The SFL also has a minor league known as the SFLm.

ISL On CBSSN

 

     Live 2020 ISL (International Swimming League) matches can be seen on CBSSN (CBS Sports Network).  The 2020 ISL season features ten teams including the Aqua Centurions (Rome), the Cali Condors, the DC Trident, the Energy Standard (Paris), the LA Current, the London Roar, the NY Breakers, Team Iron (Budapest), the Tokyo Frog Kings, and the Toronto Titans. 

     The Cali Condors are currently in 1st place in the 2020 ISL standings with 4 total match points.  The Tokyo Frog Kings, and the Toronto Titans are both expansion teams for the 2020 ISL season.  The ISL played its inaugural season in 2019.  The Energy Standard are the defending ISL Champions.
