On Wednesday, September 28th, the Somerset Patriots defeated the Erie SeaWolves 15-0 to win the 2022 MILB (Minor League Baseball) Double-A Championship. The SeaWolves recorded 0 hits in the deciding game. Erie defeated Somerset 6-5 in Game 1 of the best of three-game series, but the SeaWolves lost Game 2 to the Patriots 9-2. The Erie SeaWolves are a Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The Somerset Patriots are a Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
The Erie SeaWolves finished the second half of the 2022 regular season in 1st place in the Eastern League Southwest Division standings with an overall record of 41-28. The Somerset Patriots finished the second half of the 2022 regular season in 2nd place in the Eastern League Northeast Division standings with an overall record of 39-28.
