Flat Rock 7/8/2017

There were three 50 Lap Features at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday night.

Stars 2-1 Lansing United

On Friday night, the Michigan Stars FC (in red) defeated Lansing United (in blue)  2-1.

     On Friday night, the Michigan Stars FC (MSFC) defeated Lansing United 2-1.  The Michigan Stars FC lead 1-0 late into the contest, but Lansing United tied the game 1-1.  The Michigan Stars FC won in stoppage time on a goal scored by #28 Alexander Ofiemu.  Friday night's game was played at Hurley Field located at 2301 Robina Ave, in Berkley.
     The Michigan Stars FC, and Lansing United both compete in the Great Lakes Conference Division of the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League).  Lansing United is currently in 3rd place in the Great Lakes Conference Division standings with 18 points, and an overall record of 6-5.  The Michigan Stars FC are currently in 6th place in the Great Lakes Conference Division standings with 11 points, and an overall record of 2-4-5 (5 ties).

Astros 12-5 Thundercats

On Thursday night, the Astros (in orange) defeated the Thundercats (in blue) 12-5.

    On Thursday night, the Astros defeated the Thundercats 12-5.  Both teams compete in the National League of the Ann Arbor Rec & Ed (Recreation and Education) adult baseball Summer League.  Thursday night's game was played at Vets #5 (Veterans Memorial Park Field #5) located on the corner of Maple Road, and Dexter Road in Ann Arbor.  Click on the link below for more information about the Ann Arbor Rec & Ed adult baseball Summer League.

Case Wins At Flat Rock

Last night, Ed Case and the #9 car won the Monroe News Enduro 250 at Flat Rock Speedway.

Title Bout On ESPN

     The days of shelling out big bucks for pay-per-view boxing may be coming to an end soon.  ESPN will broadcast the WBO (World Boxing Organization) Welterweight Championship fight between Manny Pacquaio, and Jeff Horn tonight beginning at 9:00 p.m.
     Manny Pacquiao comes into tonight's fight with an overall record of 59-6-2 (38 wins by way of knockout).  Jeff Horn is the hometown underdog with an overall record of 16-0-1 (11 wins coming by way of knockout). Tonight's title bout is known as "The Battle of Brisbane", and the venue is Suncorp Stadium, in Australia.
     Tonight's main event bout is similar to a real life Rocky story.  Jeff Horn is a former school teacher, and a huge underdog in tonight's fight.  Experts are predicting an 8th Round KO (knockout) victory for Pacquiao.  The undercard features Shane Mosley Jr. 10-1 (7 KO) vs. David Touissaint 10-0 (8 KO).  Click on the link below for more information about ESPN.
