| On Sunday afternoon, the Soo Firehawks (in white) defeated the Michigan Ice Dogs (in blue) 6-1. |
The Soo Firehawks came into the Farmington Hills Ice Arena on Sunday afternoon, and left with a 6-1 victory over the Michigan Ice Dogs. #17 Drew Hull put the Ice Dogs on the board early, but the Firehawks responded on both ends of the ice. #11 Andrew Holder contributed a hat trick, while #1 Anthony Benvenuti made 26 saves. The Firehawks lead 3-1 after two periods, and added three more goals in the third period. Both teams compete in the MWJHL (Midwest Junior Hockey League), along with five other teams.
The Soo Firehawks are currently in 2nd place in the MWJHL standings with 49 points, and an overall record of 24-11. The Firehawks have the top two goal scorers in the entire Midwest Junior Hockey League. #96 Nicholas Murphy leads the MWJHL in goals with 43, and also leads the league in points with 82. #11 Andrew Holder is 2nd in the league with 36 goals, and is third in the MWJHL in points with 65.
