2 Year + 10 Days Anniversary!

The Mitten State Sports Report continues to roll along!

On April 9th, 2012, the Mitten State Sports Report was born in a small town located in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan.  A post about the Plymouth Whalers was the first article ever published on this website, and the response was overwhelming from the get go.  Stories, and pictures regarding pro wrestling, auto racing, and college baseball followed, and the foundation for the beginning of the Mitten State Sports Report was created.
There were 35 posts published in 2012, and the Mitten State Sports Report received 4,000 views during it's first few months.  The amount of content increased the following year, and 265 posts were published in 2013. The Mitten State Sports Report received 16,000 views in 2013, and the month of May (2013) was the highest viewed month so far.  Soccer, and recreational leagues found their way on here, and the momentum began building into the warmer months of Spring.  Classic cars, and editorials became popular during the Summer, and college hockey found a place on here when the weather turned cold.  The Mitten State Sports Report has currently received 24,983 views from people all over the world!
There are currently 32 channels on my television set that feature sports, or that are sports related.  Most people have opinions about the major sports markets in their area, but where can you go to find out information about other sports, and athletes?  The Mitten State Sports Report is dedicated to highlighting sports, athletes, and events that you may not know about.  New teams are constantly being featured on here, and women's sports like softball are now an option for viewers.  Click on past months to check out all of the Mitten State Sports Report's archived material!  You can always leave a comment, and you can email the Mitten State Sports Report directly at mittenstatesportsreport@rocketmail.com

Wolverine To Yankee

#10 Michael O'Neill played 3 seasons at Michigan.  O'Neill was drafted by the New York Yankees last June.

Michael O'Neill is playing in his first season with the (Class A) Staten Island Yankees, and the outfielder currently leads the the team in steals with 9.  Michael is the nephew of former big league slugger Paul O'Neill, but the two players approach the game in a much different manner.  Paul was known as a power hitter, and Michael is more dangerous when he's on base, but both guys can (or could) hit for average, and both players can (or could) consistently produce at the plate.
The Yankees organization drafted Michael O'Neill in the 3rd round of the 2013 MLB (Major League Baseball) draft, and O'Neill has already played in 64 games (with Staten Island) this season.  O'Neill played three seasons at the University of Michigan, and began receiving awards during his freshman season.  O'Neill was named as a 2011 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, along with being selected to the 2011 Big 10 All-Freshman team.  O'Neill accumulated impressive statistics during his three seasons in Ann Arbor, and O'Neill is currently 4th on University of Michigan's career stolen base list with 72.
The University of Michigan baseball team currently has an overall record of 16-20-1, and the Wolverines are 6-6 in the Big 10 Conference.  Click on the link below for more information about the University of Michigan baseball team.  Click on past months to see exclusive photos from several Wolverines baseball games.
The (Class A) Staten Island Yankees are currently in 4th place (of 4 teams) in the (McNamara) New York-Penn League with an overall record of 34-41, and the Yankees are currently seven and a half games out of first place.
