     On Saturday, May 29th, the Kent State University Golden Flashes defeated the Eastern Michigan University Eagles 4-3.  It was the third game of a four game series that was played this past weekend at Oestrike Stadium in Ypsilanti.  The Golden Flashes also earned a 9-5 victory over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon, and a 4-2 win over the Eagles on Sunday.  The Eagles did pick up a 5-4 victory against the Golden Flashes on Friday night.  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of Saturday night's game in Ypsilanti.   

     The Kent State University Golden Flashes finished the 2021 season in 3rd place in the MAC (Mid-American Conference) standings with a conference record of 23-17, and an overall record of 30-26.  The Eastern Michigan University Eagles finished the 2021 season in 9th place in the MAC standings with a conference record of 15-25, and an overall record of 21-30.

-  Golden Flashes Pitcher #26 Richie Dell was credited with the win on Saturday night.

-  Eagles Pitcher #3 Davis Feldman was charged with the loss on Saturday night.

-  Kent State University earned non-conference victories this season over Dayton, Mississippi State, Seton Hall, and Tennessee Tech. 

-  Golden Flashes Outfielder #12 Ben Carew finished the season with 7 home runs, and 36 runs batted in.  Carew also had a .316 batting average.

-  Golden Flashes Pitcher #35 Luke Albright finished the season with a 6-4 record, and a 3.40 earned run average.  Albright accumulated 102 strike outs in 82 innings pitched. 

-  Kent State University reached the College World Series in 2012. 

-  Five Eastern Michigan University baseball games were featured on the Mitten State Sports Report this season.

-  The Eastern Michigan University baseball team was also featured on the Mitten State Sports Report in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

College Hockey: UofM-D vs. KSU

On Friday night, the University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team hosted Kent State University.

     The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey club had trouble last weekend dealing with the Golden Flashes of Kent State.  The Wolverines lost 9-1 on Friday night, and then lost to the Golden Flashes 3-2 on Saturday night.  The Wolverines are currently riding a 7 game loosing streak, and there are only 2 regular season games left on the schedule.  The Eagles of Eastern Michigan University will visit Dearborn next weekend for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop on Friday, and an 8:00 p.m. puck drop on Saturday.  Click on the link below for more information about the University of Michigan Dearborn athletic program.
     The Kent State University hockey team is currently in 6th place in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) Conference standings with 34 points, and an overall record of 17-16.  The Golden Flashes are currently ranked #29th in the Nation according to the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) Division I Poll.  Scroll down to check out exclusive photos from Friday night's ACHA hockey showdown.

The Golden Flashes defeated the Wolverines 3-2 the following night.

UofM-D vs. Kent State

On Saturday night, the University of Michigan Dearborn (in white) hockey team hosted Kent State University (in blue)!

Both schools are ACHA Division 1 programs, and both schools are Conference rivals in the GLCHL.

UofM-D defeated Kent State 6-5 on Friday night.  The Wolverines were looking for the weekend series sweep!

On Saturday night, #26 Andrew Radosevis tied the game (6-6) with 4:23 left in regulation!

It took extra hockey to determine a winner!  Neither team scored in overtime, and the game went to a shootout! 

UofM-D celebrated the 7-6 victory over Kent State!  #9 Ryan Kelly scored the only goal of the shootout!

The Kent State University hockey team is currently in 7th place in the GLCHL standings with a 6-22 overall record.

The UofM-D hockey program is currently tied for 3rd place in the GLCHL standings with an overall record of 16-18.

UofM-D 7 - Kent State 6 in SO

#35 Zach Mielen made several big saves for the Wolverines during last nights 7-6 shootout victory over Kent State!

     The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team needed 7 goals, and some extra hockey to skate past the Kent State University Golden Flashes last night at the field house in Dearborn.  The Wolverines defeated Kent State 6-5 on Friday night, and it appeared that last nights game would end in a similar fashion.  University of Michigan Dearborn lead 6-5 late in the contest, but #26 Andrew Radosevic tied the game with 4:23 left in the third period.  Neither team could do much in the overtime session, and the game went to a shootout.  #35 Zach Mielen came up big for the Wolverines in the shootout, stopping all three attempts by the Golden Flashes.  #9 Ryan Kelly scored a controversial goal in the shootout that left the Kent State faithful in an uproar.  The Wolverines celebrated the 7-6 victory capping off a two game weekend sweep over Kent State.
     The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey club has won five out of their last six games, and have improved their overall record to 16-18.  The Wolverines play in Division 1 of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association), and compete in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League) Conference against six other schools.  The Wolverines are currently tied with Oakland University for 3rd place in the GLCHL standings with 47 points.  The University of Michigan Dearborn hockey team will host Eastern Michigan University this Friday night (7:30 p.m.) at the field house in Dearborn.  Click on the link below for more information about the University of Michigan Dearborn hockey club!

EMU vs. Kent State

On Saturday night, the Eastern Michigan University hockey team (in white) hosted Kent State University (in blue)!

The game was played at the Taylor Sportsplex!  Eastern Michigan University plays all of their home games there!

Both schools are conference rivals, and compete against one another in the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League!

The game was chippy from the get go!  The officials had to intervene several times throughout the game!

Kent State outshot Eastern Michigan 35-28.  #31 Andrew Duff made 31 saves for the Eagles!  

#1 Cesare Dall'Ara made 23 saves for Kent State University! 

The score was tied 2-2 after two periods.  

Eastern Michigan scored three goals in third period!  The Eagles lead 5-2 late in the contest!

Kent State scored a couple late goals to make it interesting!

EMU 5 - Kent State 4

On Saturday night, Eastern Michigan University (in white) defeated Kent State (in blue) 5-4.

     On Saturday night, the Eastern Michigan University hockey team hosted their conference rival opponent Kent State University at the Taylor Sportsplex.  Both schools compete in the GLCHL (Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League), and both schools are Division 1 ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) programs.  The game was chippy from the get go, and as the game wore on, it was apparent that many of the players on the ice were developing a strong dislike for one another.  Both teams played evenly through forty minutes, and the game was tied 2-2 at the end of two periods.  #27 Bryan Kozlowski gave Eastern Michigan a 3-2 lead just over a minute into the third period, and the Eagles began to dictate the tempo.  The goal was Kozlowski's second of the game, and the Eagles followed his effort with goals from #28 Anthony Stankiewicz, and #21 Clayton Hodges.  The Eagles held a 5-2 lead late in the contest, but Kent State's #8 Nigel Crighton scored with under three minutes remaining to make it 5-3.  #14 Joe Kummerl scored for Kent State with 14.5 seconds left in regulation, but the Eagles held on to pick up the 5-4 victory.
     Eastern Michigan University is currently in 5th place in the GLCHL Conference standings with 32 points, and a 12-19 overall record.  The Eastern Michigan hockey team plays all of their home games at the Taylor Sportsplex located at 13333 Telegraph Road, in Taylor.  The Eagles play their next home game this Friday night (7:30 p.m.) against the Adrian Bulldogs.  Click on the links below for more information about Eastern Michigan University hockey, or the Taylor Sportsplex.
