Packers College Connection




     The Green Bay Packers (8-8) are scheduled to host the Detroit Lions (8-8) tonight on Sunday Night Football beginning at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.  The Green Bay Packers roster currently features one player that played college football in the state of Michigan.

     Green Bay Packers Guard #76 Jon Runyan Jr. played college football at the University of Michigan from 2015-2019.  The Green Bay Packers selected Jon Runyan Jr. in the 6th round (192nd overall pick) of the 2020 NFL (National Football League) Draft.  Jon Runyan Jr. has played in every NFL game since being drafted.

     Jon Runyan's father Jon Runyan Sr. also played college football for the University of Michigan from 1992-1995.  The Houston Oilers (Tennessee Titans) selected John Runyan Sr. in the 4th round (109th overall pick) of the 1996 NFL Draft.  John Runyan Sr. played fourteen seasons in the NFL before serving in the United States Congress.

Amendola On Special Forces

 



     Former Detroit Lions Wide Receiver Danny Amendola is one of sixteen contestants competing on a new reality television show on FOX called "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test".  The contestants are put through a series of intense military style challenges lead by former Special Forces operatives. The cast also includes other former athletes like former NBA (National Basketball Association) star Dwight Howard, former Women's soccer star Carli Lloyd, and former MLB (Major League Baseball) star Mike Piazza.

     Celebrities like Kate Gosselin (actress), Montell Jordan (singer), and Jamie Lynn Spears (actress) are also competing on the new program.  Special Forces: World's Toughest Test debuts with a two-hour premier beginning tonight night at 8:00 p.m. on FOX.  

     Danny Amendola played for the Detroit Lions for two seasons from 2019-2020.  Amendola also played for several other NFL teams but he's best known for his time with the New England Patriots from 2013-2017.  Danny Amendola played college football at Texas Tech University from 2004-2007.  Amendola went undrafted in the 2008 NFL Draft.  Danny Amendola is from The Woodlands, Texas. 

     The Detroit Lions (8-8) will head on the road this Sunday night at 8:20 p.m. to take on the Green Bay Packers (8-8).  The Lions are in the hunt for a spot in the NFL Playoffs.  Detroit needs to win, but the Lions also need the Seattle Seahawks (8-8) to lose to the Los Angeles Rams (5-11).  The Seahawks are scheduled to host the Rams at 4:25 p.m.

Prowlers 6-3 Rockers

     On Saturday, December 31st, the Port Huron Prowlers defeated the Motor City Rockers 6-3.  Saturday's game was played at Big Boy Arena located at 34400 Utica Road, in Fraser, Michigan.  Both teams compete against each other in the FPHL (Federal Prospects Hockey League) The Rockers were able to earn a 5-4 victory over the Prowlers on Friday night in Port Huron.

     The Port Huron Prowlers are currently in 2nd place in the FPHL Continental Division standings with 44 points, and an overall record of 14-10-3 (3 overtime losses).  The Motor City Rockers are currently in 3rd place in the FPHL Continental Division standings with 43 pints, and an overall record of 14-7-3 (3 overtime losses).  Scroll down to see exclusive photographs of Saturday's FPHL hockey game in Fraser.
