Grounds Crew Folly

The Grounds Crew brought out the tarp, but they were immediately overwhelmed by the strong wind.

There was a rain delay during the 2019 Junior League World Series Championship Game between California, and Puerto Rico.  The Grounds Crew brought out the tarp, but they were immediately overwhelmed by the strong wind that forced the tarp to bubble in the middle.  One older gentleman known as "Doc" rode the twenty to thirty foot wave, and was then thrown off the side of the tarp.  People on the viewing platform were nervous that the tarp would fly towards the platform, and carry fans away to a neighboring Downriver city.  I remember yelling down to the Grounds Crew something along the lines of "Put that tarp away before somebody gets killed".  California defeated Puerto Rico 8-3 to capture the 2019 Junior League World Series Championship.
